I’m a high school junior, and currently 10th in my class of just over 300. My average is a 94%, and my SATS (only took them once so far…) were a 1980- 710 in writing, 680 in reading, and 590 in math. I’m in AP English and physics this year, also taking honors analysis. I volunteer with my autistic neighbor once a week, am in a club that spends our lunch periods with special ed kids, am the treasurer of Key Club, a member of NHS, and in history club. I also volunteer and teach kindergarten Roman Catholic CCD every Saturday. Dunno know how much that matters, but it is a Catholic school… BC is my top pick. Visited and loved itttt. I want to apply early action just so I don’t have to wait, but will that help or hurt me? Think I’ll get in if I go early action??

I think you’ll get in. Though Early Action is more difficult, there’s no way you’d be rejected EA. You’ll either be deferred or accepted. I would encourage EA. GOOD LUCK!

You should definitely try and raise your SAT scores. A 680 in reading and 590 in math are not going to be very competitive at BC. I wouldn’t advise applying EA, as it is more competitive, and you probably won’t be there yet.

^ a 680 isn’t that bad, i got in with a 680 CR
You definitely have the grades and rank, and your SAT should go up the next time you take them. If I were you though, I would try for another leadership position other than Key Club, instead perhaps the history club. I say this because a bunch of kids have key club leadership roles and not as many have history leadership positions, which could only help you. This is what I put in for my extracurriculars:
French Club VP 11th, P 12th, 20 hrs/yr
French National Honor Society 10th, 11th, 12th, 5 hrs/yr
Key Club 9th, 10th

and I got in with just those. So I think that shows that you want to show that you have a passion in something academically instead of just helping out the community, yaknow?
I wasn’t even in NHS

thanks everybody i know i need to get my math up, and i’ll be taking my SATs again may 1st. i’m still not sure about early action…i would love to know early, but people are saying it will hurt me. any opinions?

I have no idea how expressing significant interest in Boston College could possibly hurt you.
