If you can get good SAT scores (at least all >700), you should have a reasonable chance.

yea i agree.. take the SAT and get a 1450+ and u'll have a good shot

You look like you have a shot.

Focus your EC's--you have a lot of clubs but little that stands out.

I know stanford applicants are amazing, but i have like 3 clubs, but am also on 3 community committees! Who else is that involved in the community, AND has started a non-profit. How does that not stand out?

I know athletics only stand out if your amazing, but i am super dedicated to XC and Track. Better then marching band or debate club if you ask me...

cuz it's always a crapshoot.. a 2400, 4.0, valedictorian who is expected by his peers to get in may not get in

Yeah, one of my good friends who was 1590, 4.0 didn't get in, i was shocked, but i guess it doesn't always work out :/

2370, 4.0uw didn't get in.. yikes

Skyhawkk, I totally think you have a chance. I have friends who got in the 1300s on their SATs and got in, so that's not the most important factor by a long shot. What is important, however, is showing passion, dedication, and love for learning. Show that in your essays. Tell a story, write with feeling - don't just write an essay that's like "I was on track for 4 years. I enjoyed the experience because it taught me to work hard." That would be rather bland. Something more along the lines of "Every time I crossed that finish line, my pulse roaring in my ears, my determination coursing through my body, I felt like a champion." I know that's cheesy, but I'm tired ;) Anyways, I hope you get the gist of it - I have found that Stanford students are all interesting and passionate about something, so keep that in mind.

you left out your race (you're treasurer of the uganda club, so i figured i might ask...)
it does matter, alas
