Chances at Berkeley, Northwestern, and Cornell?

I'm just a junior, but I'm starting to wonder if I should bother applying to any of these schools. I'm looking to be an engineering major, and I know that these schools have very rigorous application processes. What are my chances for getting in, and should I even bother applying?

Sex: Male
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
State: Texas
Possible Hooks: Born in Pakistan, Muslim
Will NOT apply for Financial Aid

UW GPA: 4.2 on a 4.3 scale
Rank: N/A
ACT: Expecting 32-34 from February test
SAT IIs: 800 on MathII and Physics
APs: Will have taken Calculus AB and BC, Spanish Language, English Language and Lit, Chemistry, Biology, Physics B, APUSH, and Statistics by graduation

EC's:
Currently helping organize a 20+ school TEDx event in my city. I am my school's delegate and I may be a speaker at the event if some things fall through.

I'm currently trying to get an internship to research at the University of Texas at Austin this summer.

I established a Math Help Center and Math Club at my school.

I'm a co-captain for the TSA TEAMS Test at my school.

I'm president of the Pokemon Club because why not.

I will have run Cross Country and Track for 4 and 3 years by graduation. I've been Varsity on both since Sophomore year, and I was JV XC captain both Sophomore and Junior years (basically worst Varsity member helps JV warm up at meets lol). Varsity XC has won last 5 conference champions if that makes any difference.

I've played soccer all 4 years and will be Varsity senior year. I was Captain of JV Soccer (lol).

I was in the school musical Junior year.

Awards and Honors:
Department Math Award Freshman and probably Junior year
1st in State for TSA TEAMS Test 9/10 Division Sophomore Year
Probable AP Scholar with Distinction

You have some solid scores and interesting extra curriculars. But nothing special. You’re in the middle section of applicants. You have a good chance, but they’re still technically reaches. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1440020-jerome-fisher-chances.html</a> chance me?

Berkley - Match
Cornell, Northwestern - High match

Berkeley: Definite match

Cornell and Northwestern: high match/ low reach depending on ACT scores

Apply to all those schools!!! You look great for them!!! And president of the Pokemon club? I’d accept you.

i’m not really familiar with those other schools, but i think you’ll definitely get into Berkeley !
im sure you have a great chance at the others too, so you better apply!

I think you will get into Berkeley and Northwestern. Cornell is an Ivy and is a reach for everyone but I a confident that you will get in. Good Luck!!

Is Cornell a low reach?

Cornell is noticably less selective than the other Ivies.

It’s the last Ivy where a reasonably good enough applicant should have above a 50% chance of acceptance.

You are in the game for all of these, depending on you ACT score. You should apply. Best of luck.

Can someone chance me for Carnegie Mellon and John Hopkins?

berkeley - match
northwestern - high match
cornell - low reach

berkeley/ northwestern – High Chance
cornell - little harder
But, don’t give up!

UC Berkeley- Match
Northwestern- High Match
Cornell- Low Reach

berk: high match, cornell, high match, nw: match if ur act is high

This was my ACT score:
Composite: 36
English: 35
Math: 35
Reading: 36
Science: 36
Writing: 11

Does that make a notable impact on my chances?

Hey so are you in-state for Berkeley? I don’t know what engineering field you’re interested in but EE/CS is the MOST competitive even for in-staters. Oh wait nvm, it says you’re from Texas. Well anyways, I’d say it’s a reach.

I don’t know much about Northwestern’s Engineering programs, nor their admittance history. Cornell seems relatively good with your perfect ACT score. Good job on that, by the way!

So I’ll tentatively put this down:
Berkeley: Lower Reach
Northwestern/Cornell: High Match

I may be totally out of my mind, I haven’t really ever done these before. >.<

Wait I thought Berkeley was easier to get into?

Not really for out of state… though since you seem to be able to pay fully, perhaps it may be easier. IDK tho…

Cornell is consistently hated on as an Ivy. Maybe it’s not Harvard but these stats still make it a top school in the country [Cornell University Admissions Statistics and Chances | Parchment - College admissions predictions.](<a href=“Cornell University Admissions Statistics and Chances | Parchment - College admissions predictions.”>Cornell University Admissions Statistics and Chances | Parchment - College admissions predictions.) . Good Luck OP because I’m very similar to you and want to go to similar schools…High Matched as the thread has already stated
