Chances at Berkeley

Other pertinent information: low-middle income household (I don't know if public schools care so much), single parent household, I've lived in 4 countries (China, Australia, Canada and the US) so that should make an interesting essay whatever it is that they ask for.

UCB: Slight reach (OOS)

IMO...your stats look healthy...but your SATs don't reflect what your GPA would suggest...and therefore may weaken your chances for acceptance to UC Berkeley.

what are the typical out-of-state median scores for berkeley?

Probably around a 2150~2200 or so, but that's just a guess. Since your OOS, I'd say that your EC's are going to hold more weight, and it looks like you're fine there. Get a good SAT score and I'd guess that you're set.
