chances at Berzerkley or UCLA??

i really want to go to either ucla or berkeley because i live in the bay area and those are top tier west cost schools.

i am a 2nd semester asian indian junior in the suburbs at a predominantly white/asian high school that provides numerous ap courses.

sadly ive only taken 3 so far (AP Euro[4] currently: Spanish and Biology) but plan to take 4 more my senior yr (Literature, Calculus AB, Physics B, AP Econ)
my cp. weighted gpa (the one theyll see) so far is 4.1
i know that last yr the freshman avg was a 4.25 so im slightly under

ive taken sat once last december and got a 1990 but i took in april and im taking the act this saturday

my extracurriculars are not very impressive at all and that has me nervously worried. all i have is boy scouts, several clubs (treasurer of muslim club) and i won some writing contest. i dont even play sports

i really want to go to these schools and davis and san diego are my back ups. if anyone has any suggestions to improve in order to get in that would be greatly appreciated

thank you very much

zahinullah:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCD: Safe Match

I'd back up flopsy on this. Be sure to hit a 740+ on atleast one SAT II (and the other one should be decent) and pull up your SAT I above the 2000 range (prefferably get Math-Verbal to a 1400 range)

zahin YOUR GOING TO HARVARD! DUDE YOUR LIKE ING INSANE OMG YUXIN DOESN"T HAVE * ON U *** BERKELY GO FOR LIKE HARVARD OR SOME **** OMG OMG OMG

UCB: Higher than slight reach lower than reach
UCLA: Slight Reach, very slight (someone from my school with a 1800 got in)
UCSD: Match
UCD: Safety

Note: If you take a hard course load, the UCs really, really look favorably on that.

I think you will get in no problem, b/c I applied to UC davis, LA, Santa Cruz, and Irvine, I chose berkeley at first but somehow took it off to add in irvine b/c i know for sure i wont get in b/c my sat scores sucked... i got a 1640 on a second try and i got 600 on sat 2 math, 520 in history and i did everything junior and senior yr like worked, joined 2 sports, volunteered here and there, involved in 2 clubs and VP and sec of those 2 clubs. and took like 1 class at a community college and my gpa is 3.8, what made me think i wont get into LA and berkeley is that i didn't take ANY AP science classes, and still i got into UCLA with Biology as my major. and i only took, ENG 2a, AP cal AB/BC and IB US history. yeah, so u should never limit urself to only those schools listed above, u should try like IV leages and i think u have a good chance of getting into berk. or LA

I would concur with flopsy, I didn't get into Berkeley, I had a higher GPA and higher SATs. I did get into UCLA though, so don't take it for granted.

aight aight i have anew problem like what genesis said about the hard course load...im thinking about either 4 ap's senior yr...im taking ap calc ab and ap physics B For ssure but i cant decide whether to take either ap econ to ap lit or both since genesis said theylikle hard courseloads. are 4 aps too much? 3 too little? im kinda leaning on just econ right now

3 is too little. well I'm only taking 3 and 1 honors, but I plan on taking some classes at the local community college (calc1d, physics 4a, etc)
