Points of Interest:
I am a first-generation college attendee from a single-parent family in North Dakota. My EFC is $0. In my Latin class this year, we've translated an essay by Cicero which will be submitted for publication before the end of the school year. I wrote an essay about learning Mandarin Chinese.

Thanks for all your help!

well i definetely think you will get in because i had a lower gpa and SAT scores and i'm out of state and i got in.

you're well above bing's standards. you can get into better schools if you wanted.

Nothing is certain, but I think you have a great shot at Bing. You also have a lot of nice hooks, being a first generation college student from a single parent home. Learning Mandarin Chinese is also very impressive. I think Bing might even be a safety for you. If I were you, I'd apply to even more competitive schools. Being from North Dakota could help you.

I applied to U Rochester (my first choice), Geneseo, Syracuse, and Wellesley, too.

Thanks for being so helpful, everyone!

Rochester is really good. I'm applying to Syracuse too!

You have a great shot.

I got in from chicago. 25 act 1200/1600 sat. 4.8 weighted gpa from #1 hs in illinois. The admission guy there told me that they were "actively recruiting" out of state kids. we def have a step up considering i am seeing in state kids getting turned down with scores much higher then mine.
rochester is also my number one...i will struggle getting in however.
I applied also to syracuse....and just got into ithaca.
also, bing is super cheap, especailly for out of staters, i ahve heard that they are preety tough on merit based scholerships, i heard kids with great stats being offered as low as 500 per year. other sunys offer more. let me know how it all goes
