chances? at boston college

asian - american [filipino] currently a junior at Long Island, NY public high school. my school has had the largest academic excellence growth recently [70% since 1985]

my grades aren't anything special, if anything low. but my extra curriculars are a lot. but i do have a lot, which might make it seem why the grades are average. i know BC is most likely a reach school for me. but i love their economics program. and i just wanna get in so bad next fall.

GPA: 3.5 [raised from a 3.3 from freshman year]
ranking: top 20% of 300
SAT I: 1850 [m:650, v: 620, w: 580]
APs: World History [4], US History & Enlgish Lang [this year, hoping to get no less than 4], Human Geography, English Lit, European History, Economics [next year]

courseload: was in all academic classes in 9th grade but was bumped to honors classes in science, history, and english in 10th grade. weak in math and bio [because they're not honors classes, but still recieved high grades]. great in chem and physics. history and english - no less than 90 every year. band all 4 years [playing two instruments - flute & oboe]
EC: Varsity tennis [conference champs], varsity track [conference champs], musical [principal role], honor society, volunteer tutoring, NYSSMA participant [music festival on which i'm graded, have scored very well], colorguard captain [junior year], platinum renaissance card holder [highest honor given by renaissance] volunteer assistant teaching handicapped kids CCD.
BC seems like a reach reading back on my qualifications. am i pathetic for even trying? anyone know what school would be a better fit for me?

my friend just got in with SAT's in the 1900s and weak EC's. gpa UW was 4.0 though. i'd say you have about the same chance.

It sounds like a reach, but you are not pathetic at all. If you do well for the rest of junior year and early senior year it will help.

Keep bringing your grades up, maybe retake the SAT and see if it goes any better, and it will be a closer reach.

Reach. Bring up your GPA to around a 3.7 and your SATs to a 1350 (M + CR) and you'll turn it into a level.
