I'm a hopeful finance major and I was just wondering my chances of getting in. I know Boston College is a pretty prestigious school. My SAT was 2040. 720 math, 680 CR, 640 Writting. I have a 4.0 GPA and am ranked 2 out of a class of 109. I go to a very small school in upstate New York, so I didn't have to option to take very many AP classes, only 3. I'm taking 3 SUPA (Syracuse University Project Advance) classes this year and 2 distance learning classes through a local SUNY school. I'm the president of our student senate, varsity club, and involved in NHS. I was a 4 year varsity football player and 3 year captain, earning multiple all-section honors including the most outstanding player in our section. I was a 2 year varsity basketball player and 1 year captain before deciding to wrestle my senior year. I was a 3 year varsity track athlete and earned a trip to the New York State Championship meet. This past summer I worked as a lifeguard at a local beach. I really feel like my athletic accomplishments make me stand out. I'm very interested in the stock market and explain my passion for it in my essay, discussing my personal investments. I founded an investment club at my school that enters investment competitions. I feel like my only weak point really is my low SAT score, but it is still around average for accepted students. So, what do you guys think my chances are?

Living in Boston, I can tell you what it takes to get into BC. You SAT scores are fine, and most likely, your GPA is fine too, but you would have definitely gotten in with a 4.1 or over. You have a very impressive resume and a good ranking. I’d say you have a very good chance in getting into BC. Good luck.

I was recently deferred from early action to regular decision. Since then I was named Most Outstanding Player in my section for football and named an All-State Honorable Mention. I have also started contributing to an investment research website run entirely by students. I am one of about 20 analysts that write for the site. I’m in the process of communicating this information to Boston College. Could you guys give me an updated view on my chances?
