Test scores and gpa are a little low compared to Brown’s more competitive applicants. However, it is good to see that you are taking the most rigorous course load offered at your school, but once again, the most competitive applicants do that and then some. As for your honors and ECs…if there is any good advice I got on this forum its that Adcoms don’t wish to see laundry lists of honors and ECs. Did any of those mean something to you or were you just doing them to “look good”? Is raising a small amount of funds after Katrina comparable to a senior in California who spent his summers as a research assistant with a local professor in a field he loved? So maybe, focus upon the activities and honors that you had a true passion for instead of your current onslaught of randomness.

Id say Brown is a very high reach for you at this point, so do not place all your eggs in one “brown basket” (get it?).

Final eyes is right. I think colleges like quality, not quantity and they like uniqueness over the usual animal shelter and hospital volunteering. However, your stats look alright (test scores need a BIG boost and the GPA isn’t wonderful). However, you have some hooks and some interesting extracurriculars and you have taken a rigorous course load. It just depends. No one should count on getting in because these schools are among the most difficult in the world. Give it your best shot and good luck!

finaleyes- i only listed the activities that meant the most to me. (i.e- founder of LGBT club-exemplifies uniqueness since I go to a catholic school, fundraisers, student government- to exemplify leadership) I have dedicated myself to these activities. doesn’t it display diversity and dedication? I appreciate the advice. I will take out some very ordinary activities among my list.
