thanks a lot. :) and i'm not applying as athlete.

I don't know if schools will start giving much weight to writing but your 680/800 is real good; and I'd venture to say those tennis accomplishments are amazing. I play in the US (nowhere near as good) and am unfamiliar with Canada's system and comparable difficulty, but you seem to be a good player and it may serve as a hook. At the same time though, if you're not applying as an athlete, do you have an intention to play maybe later in your years at college?

Overall, I'd say you have a decent chance [keeping in mind Brown and Cornell] at those schools (but depends on how writing is viewed). Excluding writing, I'd venture to say that you'd be competitive at most schools.

i'd play tennis at my college but i doubt i would participate in competitive tournaments; i think i've grown out of that and just want to help around with matches and events.

anyway, thanks a bunch for your input and kind words haha :)

yea i think u hsve a good shot, but that writing SAT could screw u up... could u possibly take it again? Anyways, good luck!

yeah try and take that again just incase. it's the easiest to study for bc its just grammar, i went up like 100 points studying out of barrons for a week just finishing the books writing section and checking my answers, and that was from 660-760, so if u can take it again, match to both, otherwise, no1 on this wall can possible be sure what that score will do to u.

except i can't =(. didn't really study for the SATs and took it on the last date possible (the January administration). Haha oh well; it's up to fate now.

any other opinions?

those are really good schools you applied to. probably alot if not all are in the top of their class, with SAT scores that are either the same as yours or higher. while you're record is good, i don't know if it's good enough to get into those schools. i had a friend who applied to brown with a 1500 SAT (before they changed it to add writing), 4.0 GPA, and tons of ec and she was put on the waiting list. so, i don't know. but good luck. i really hope you do make it. if anything they'll take you for your tennis, very impressive.

haha yea... i just reviewed brown's admission stats and they are saddening. i'm not even sure my reading score is up to par now...

ah well. just not gonna think about it i guess.. it altogether seems quite hopeless.

If you really want to go to those schools and dont think you have a shot with your app alone...contact those coaches ASAP because I think you may qualify as a recruited athlete...one of my friends was a recruited runner and got in with a 2050 to brown and had grades that were comparable to yours

plus, college sports are fun! give it a shot

Any stats for your 18 and under play in the year of 2006/7? Not to be harsh but I am well aware of the tennis associations for college and I know colleges won't care how you did in the year of 2003, 2004, 2005. They care about the NOW and usually the 18 and unders for the year 2007 and maybe 2006.

mm well i'm not applying as an athlete for that sole reason. i dedicated my tournament time towards helping others (ballboying, assisting, volunteering) and academics at the start of gr 11 cuz school was picking up. plus i didn't think i was good enough to go pro, so ya. would that in any way mar my stats from what they are?

how in earth's name are you going to get your 2007 rankings when we submit results at the end of 2006? :S besides early year rankings are not even accurate.

As a recruited athlete, Stanford should be your first choice--big, big, big into tennis.

i know, except

stanford offers basically no FA to intern.

not applying as athlete

still wondering how much that writing score will kill my chances

Your writing score will most probably hurt you...but then again the tennis might help. I dunno...it doesnt hurt to apply though. Your Math and CR are great.

mm ok. any other opinions?

im applying for the science major so i dont know if tennis that influential of a factor

Stanford does offer reasonable amounts of aid to internationals. Granted, it isn't need-blind, but if you're competitive enough to be accepted, you will get some aid.

Why aren't you applying as an athlete?

what highschool do you go to? i'm from vancouver also.. are you a senior this year?

yes and b. north
