Chances at Brown or Harvard

I'm a 16 year old asian male thats going to be a senior at a catholic co-ed private school in Hawaii. I'm still not quite sure on what I want to major in...probably something like Economics, Engineering, or Political Science. I'm really not sure on where to apply, although both Brown and Harvard really attracted my attention (duh). Will my chances be hurt though, because I haven't won any statewide competitions or anything like that.

What does 4.3 unweighted mean? What is that out of?

No offense, but you are going to seem like an average person to them.

Asian, Tennis, Math Awards.....do you have anything that sets you apart?

Try to raise your verbal and writing scores. The college classes and class rank are impressive, but the SAT could be better (?)

weighted can't be higher than 4 usually

Have a discussion with your parents about how much you can afford for college. That will impact whether you need to include schools that offer scholarships or good finanicial aid.

Broaden your search substantially - you're missing lots of great schools - try to think a little more about what you want in a college besides just a prestigious name, eg. size, location, culture, LAC vs. university, etc.

If you are going into engineering you need to decide that now. Most schools require that you declare that with your application - it is usually very difficult (or impossible) to transfer into engineering later.
