Get those SATs up and write a really good essay and Id say you have a decent shot. I dont see any "hook" though, so youre chances still arent good.

You seem to have real passion for programming and debate as well as tennis.

libertyzain2007, what district are you in for NFL?

And DC_andrew, do you even know how hard it is to qualify for National NFL´s, especially if your district is the St. Louis area? And besides, 64th in the nation is hella awesome. It´s the nation, not the state or even local.

I am in the Heart of America District (Liberty Sr. High School) Kansas City, MO Area

As DC_Andrew said, the SATs are way too low. Your chances aren't that good.

what level do you think I need to get them to?

2100+

The worst thing though is that your writing scores are your highest when they are the least important. I would say you need 1400+ on M and CR and 2100+ total to have a decent chance because you really have no special hook to make up for your scores.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

isn't debate a hook? and qualifying to nationals twice? Also, I got 1990 without any prep, is it feasible to believe that I can get it above 2100? Also, are my SAT II's ok, because I was thinking of doing them again in the november administration of the test. Furthermore if I did get my scores up do you think I would have a legitimate shot?

lol SAT prep

whats so funny about SAT Prep?

Cool, so I guess Oak Park must be in your district then huh? Tough debate school.

And just out of curiosity ICantThinkOfaName2, how do you know writing scores don´t matter? I´m not disagreeing or agreeing with you. I´m just curious.

haha yea. my SATs went up when I didnt study for them.

yeah they are...

No, I really dont have any idea how hard it is to qualify for nationals in the greater St Louis area. What makes you think a Brown adcom would? Think what you want, but coming from someone whos gone through the process and been admitted, its still not a legit "hook" in my opinion.

lololol CC mods deleted my post

i guess they're afraid i'll make their affiliates lose money by telling people SAT prep is pathetic

Pakistani/Chinese?

Interesting...

DC_andrew, I wrote:

And DC_andrew, do you even know how hard it is to qualify for National NFL´s, especially if your district is the St. Louis area?¨

All I´m saying is that it´s really hard to qualify for and even harder to actually place at National NFL´s. And I just mentioned the St. Louis area thing in passing as libertyzain2007 mentioned missouri valley. I am simply arguing in libertyzain2007´s favor. And you don´t know how much time he or she spends working on debate cases, which can sometimes take forever if you opt not to use pre-made cases. And who gave you the right to tell someone what their hooks and passions are? Just because you got admitted, that doesn´t make you as knowlegeable as you imply to be.

DC_andrew, you wrote:

To the "My Chances?" people...

The amount of these threads is getting ridiculous. We are not an admissions committee and thus can give you no insight into whether or not you'll get in. The reality is that at Ivy League schools, based on my experience, there are TWO main ways to get in to these elite institutions...

One of these having some character about you that is just absolutely outstanding that sets you apart from the rest of the applicant pool (with the assumption you are also a well above-average student.) And no, perfect SAT's, Valedictorian, and a laundry list of ECs do not count. This could be athletic ability, artistic ability, or some other extraordinary accomplishment.

The second one is to be an extraordinary student and just get lucky. The reality is that there are so many people out there who are valedictorian, have perfect SAT's etc etc, that a large majority of them WONT get in. Stats alone will rarely get you in, and so unless you have some other attractive quality, it is a crapshoot whether or not this type of student will be accepted.

In my case, what got me in was athletic ability. I had 2100 SAT/4.1 weighted GPA, and was recruited for track & field. Even if you DO have some outstanding quality about you, theres a chance you wont get in, and so theres really no way to predict. So please, use this post as a disclaimer, because we dont know any more than you do about whether or not youll get in.

DC_andrew, if you really believe that 2nd sentence you wrote, you should really be taking a second look at telling people what their hooks are and aren´t.
