Chances at Brown?

Its my first choice, I went there for a Summer@Brown program this summer and fell in love with it. I tried to make that pretty clear in my interview/Why Brown write.

I am applying ED with these stats:
ACT Score: 33(1 point from a 34!)
GPA: 4.3
Rank: 4/532

Senior Year Classes: French 4, AP Government, Aerobics (had to take PE!), Peer Tutoring, Calculus Honors, English 4AP

Extracurriculars: Volunteering at the local hospital every week for the past 2 years, Boy Scout/Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow Vigil Member/Lodge Chief, VP French Club, California Scholastic Federation Vice President, a few other small ones

Job/Work Experience: I private tutored kids most of last year. Now I am employed at a law office 8hs/wk.

Summer Activities: Summer@Brown- Microbiology (2008)
IEMA Spanish Emersion Program in Spain (2008)
Lead America: Medicine (2007)
Michigan Debate Institute (2006)

I have also taken a lot of classes at our local college: Statistics, Intro to Bio, Health Education, Anatomy and Physio, Art History

Essays: I wrote one about Boy Scouts and how it has taught me leadership and service etc. The other was on my trip to Spain this past summer. I didnt know any Spanish, so I had to adapt and learn how to get around.

Teacher Rec's: Should be good as far as I know. I also had my professors from my Summer@Brown class send in recommendations, so I think that should help!

State: California
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Gender: Male

I'll chance 'ya back!

Very good chance. Although any Ivy League school is a crapshoot, I would give you above normal chance for admission.

I don't have my link but I'll post it soon.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/601606-what-my-chances-good-college.html

Although your statistics are quite competitive, your ec's are just average for Brown.
But in the end, the Summer@Brown stuff will REALLY help you out.

I'm sure you'll play up your EC's on the App, so I'm gonna give you a slight reach/match.

Which, for an Ivy, should be really reassuring, because none of them are considered matches.

You are in the top tier of competitive students!

If you could, could you chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/601962-asian-actor-ivies-stanf-uc-s-usc.html#post1061319679

imo, in at brown.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Any other opinions?

bumpity bump

i think that you have a great chance at brown. Is there any way you might be able to take SAT2s in January and send them in, or did you apply ED (in which case it wouldn't matter)? I know that they're not required if you took the ACT, but I feel like they can't hurt either.

Other than that, I think your ECs look lovely and as long as you have good essays, you should be getting in!

Hereee's me!:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/585655-black-legacy-scea-yale.html

Yeah, I actually did take the SAT II's, but I didnt do great on them, so I didnt send them in:
Bio-M: 690
Lit: 650
Math II: 640 (which is funny considering I got a 620 on the SAT I math portion)

I figured they wouldnt do much to help me, so I just avoided them altogether.

Thanks

You're in.

Hey you guys, I'm also applying to Brown (well I already applied ED) could you do me a huge favor and look at my thread too! Thanks sooo much... http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/601083-chances-getting-into-brown-please.html

bump
bump
bump

Your essay has potential. Make it stand out a mile or so, and I think you're in.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/593398-international-student-stanford-cornell-brown-dartmouth-etc.html

You certainly are in range but I'm a bit disturbed to see kids saying you're a shoo in. As Brown will tell you, summer does not count.

You have an amazing chance to get in. You should have no reason to worry, but if u had acted ED, then you would have already been admitted.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/600726-chances-brown-university-rd.html

I did apply ED!
Just a few short weeks before I find out!

I think you need a major hook or connections to get into Brown. I know of many perfect applicants who did not get in, and many okay applicants with connections who did.

bump......

anyone? anytakers? ill chance back i promise!

I dont see a problem, but even with perfect stats, there could be a problem. Again, if you dont get accepted dont sweat it. You have great stats and are bound to go somewhere nice. Make sure your essays are top notch and that your recs are gold. Good luck and hope we both make it!
