chances at BU and BC

chances for transfer...

HS GPA: 3.1 wieghted, 2.7 UW
college GPA (at st johns college): 2.97
SAT I: 800V, 710M, 740W

with really good essays/recs would i have a shot???

Anyone????????????

wow. your gpa is awful. but your sat is good. toss up i think. if yoiu show a lot of interest in one of the schools, youll have a good chance

thanks. thats good news. anyone else got an opinion???

others have said i dont have a chance...

Your SAT scores are amazing, but unfortunately, an SAT score does not make up for a lack of effort in class. It will be very difficult for you to get in. You should have worked a little harder in college - you knew your HS GPA was low.. you could've at least tried to compensate by working hard in college. Wait a year or a semester before transfering. Try to get your college GPA up.. a lot.

you have a chance at bu...def not bc.

why are you switching out of St. John's College, i heard it is amazing?

definitely a chance at BC. b/c of high scores. hope you have something to explain your gpa.

http://www.admissionchances.com

because the grading is bogus. i do tons of work and im pretty smart but i get Bs because there are no tests, no quizzes, no written-work, and basically no papers...you get graded here according to your enthusiasm in class--thats it. im hoping that if my recs say that and if i make a case for the situation in my essays it will help. sjc is good idiosyncratic, but if you dont fit the neatly defined mould you cant do well regardless of effort/intelligence.

anyone else got opinions?

raise your gpa if at all possible. If it's not possible then hope you get a good recommendation and you may get into BU (unlikely) I wouldn't apply to BC the average gpa is a 3.6 for transfers and plenty of people there have 1400 -1450+ SAT's.

yeah, i dont have any chance to raise my GPA. it will be at least a 3.0 by the end of the year, but thats after i apply...

also though, last year i applied to Reed and got wait-listed (and its not like regular freshman admissions; only a few kids get wait-listed for transfers) and that was with a 2.7 GPA, a 29 ACT and no SAT. so basically my recs and essays were pretty superlative. but im hoping this year with my higher GPA and good SAT scores ill get in. do you think that can be counted on? and do you think BU or BC would react similarly to really good recs/essays. (i mean, my recs are really outstanding)
