Also, I have a medical disorder (chronic pain disorder) that forced me to miss a lot of school freshman, sophomore, and junior year. It is now under control and being treated. My GPA is pretty bad because I was/am constantly trying to catch up. I'm planning to include a personal statement to explain my low grades.

My top 2 colleges are Boston University and George Washington University.
I live in PA so I'm also going to apply to Pitt and Penn State. Other colleges I am looking at include: Fordham, NYU, JMU, American, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and Northeastern (most of these are reaches, I know).
I'm planning to major in international relations.

Any comments are appreciated :).

Im not trying to be mean here, but I don’t see how you could get into any of the schools you listed. Before I mention any other schools, I need to first address this. Georgetown is a top 10 school in America - maybe the world, I dont keep up on international rankings. Students with 4.0s and 2400s get REJECTED from Georgetown every year. With your 3.2 and 1900, Georgetown won’t even consider you. Sorry to be brutally honest, but you can not possibly be that interested in going to Georgetown with a 3.2 GPA and 1900 SAT.

As for the other schools, I am still baffled. NYU and Johns Hopkins are premier schools. Once again, students with outstanding GPAs, like in the 3.7 - 4.0 range and great Sats like 2000 - 2400 dont get in. Your stats don’t even come close. Your Sat is about average for NYU, but that 3.2 GPA won’t even get you looked at.

BU and George Washington are also almost out of reach. BU and GWU want their applicants to have a 3.5 - 3.75 GPA. At a 3.2, once again, these schools are massive reaches.

Northeastern - Im not even going to explain again.

Really, I dont know what your thinking here. 3.2 GPA, only top 35th percentile in your school, and just a little above average SAT. Its baffling to think your considering these premier schools.

The only school I can say is a match for, a very LOW match, is Penn State, the non main campus.

Ugh this was frustrating to read

ok sidthekid needs to chillax… i disagree. yes gw is stretching it for you in regards to your gpa, but you had extenuating circumstances that i’m sure you made clear in your college ap. gw is hard to get into regular decision (it’s actually one of my top choices!) but if you applied ed you have a much better chance. Boston University is probably a high match, and your most likely into penn state, i’m from pennsylvania and mediocre kids in my school who did absolutely nothing significant with their years in high school made it in. Best of luck chance me back please!!!

Pick one and apply early. GW has ED 1 and 2, if that makes a difference.

Don’t worry about Pitt or Penn State, you’ll be fine for JMU and American, and if you get your SAT score up higher than NYU, BU, and GWU come in the picture. Make sure you emphasize your disorder. AND DON’T STOP BELIEVING. You think you have a chance at the top top top schools? Then pursue your hopes. Consider where you want to EA/ED as well, it’ll help.

As for Sidthekidc87… you’re a clown. The only score the OP has a match for is Penn State? Ridiculously harsh words for a girl whose disorders have hindered her? It’s not exactly her fault that she doesn’t have the advantages that most people have. Tearing down her dreams by saying she has no chance at most of her schools? Saying that her post was frustrating to read? You say you weren’t trying to be mean, but that was one of the meanest things I’ve read in a while.

I seriously hope you’re not like this in real life, because that was DEFINITELY a classy post sarcasm
