Chances at BU - CAS or CGS

Title says it all!
Basically, BU is my top school. I applied to CAS as an English major but I'm skeptical about what my chances of getting in after seeing my SAT scores.

I have a 3.6 GPA (unweighted)
SAT score of 1640 (R: 580, W:560, M: 500)
Yes...the math is kind of low.

I was born in Puerto Rico but completed all my schooling in the Dominican Republic.

I would say my essay is pretty strong, and the same goes to the writing supplement.
I am positive my counselor's letter of recommendation as well as my teacher's are strong, as I spent so many years in the same school.

As for my activities...
I did swimming for two years ( 9th and 10th)
Tutored 4 hrs a week in grade 11 and 12
Became an NHS member in grade 12
School Newspaper's graphic designer and editor (grade 10)
School's treasurer (grade 10)
Did a psychology internship in grade 12
About 80 hrs of community service
Honor Roll all 4 years

Anyone? Any feedback is highly appreciated!

Bump? anyone? :{

BU is a reach. The average SAT is around 1900, I think. Miracles do happen, so don’t give up. Best of luck to you. :)

You have a decent shot in getting in. The students in my school that got in had a 3.7 average with an 1800. Meaning that some had below 1800 and some above. So from what I know you will be fine. I hope this helps!

You have very strong hooks with your URM status and geographic location. The test scores do hurt you but I doubt they would break your application. I would be surprised if you were denied. Good luck.

Thank you!!! I don’t know why but soon after submitting the application, I started feeling apprehensive about it (which wasn’t the case a month earlier).
Anyway, thank you everyone for the encouraging words. I appreciate it. :)

SAT score is low however URM status will help. You might have a chance at CGS.
