Chances at Business Schools

White, male from Kansas

GPA: ~98/100 (school doesn't rank)
----highest honor roll all six semesters
----scholarship for high score on entrance exam

----taking it again in September to raise essay
My school doesn't offer AP classes, but I took 3 AP's this year(calc, english lang and english lit). I take the hardest schedule my school offers. I also plan on taking a few AP's next year.
I also am taking two classes this summer at a local community college
----Business Calculus (will get A)
----Intro to Business (will get A)

EC's:

Cross Country (3 years)
Recreational Baseball (11 years)
Recreational Basketball (11 years)
Ping Pong Club (10,11,12) Executive Council (11,12)
NHS
175+ service hours
----2007 spring break mission trip to Mexico

Work Experience:

small eBay business (9,10)

Don't be fooled by my 98% GPA. My school is extremely easy.

I am trying to show a passion for business, but there isn't a whole lot I can do. I am taking all 3 business classes my school offers. I will probably take a few more this fall at community college.

Haven't written essays yet or gotten teacher rec's, but I assume they will be good.

So, what are my chance at:

Penn(Wharton)
WashU (grandparents went here, many connections)
Michigan
Notre Dame
UVA
UNC
HYP?

National Merit Commended Scholar also

Come on guys, what do you think?

Hard to say... HYP and Wharton... definitely a chance... all the others you'll get into in my opinion

thanks sophomore. i was thinking that also

Good chances at all except Wharton, where you are 45-50% in my opinion.

Also, I hope you are aware that at most of these schools you will have to reapply for the business schools at a later point in time.

In particular:

Michigan and Notre Dame--apply as a freshman to get into business school in the sophomore year
UVA and UNC--apply as a sophomore to get into business school in the junior year

P.S. This is not true at Wharton (Penn) or at WUSL. For this reason, I would suggest you go to one of these, if accepted, over the others if you are worried about having to reapply for business.

Other good business schools to consider are NYU, Texas, USC, Illinois, MIT, Wake Forest, Boston College and Indiana. UC Berkeley also has a good business school--but it is hard to get into Berkeley from OOS, and also you would have to reapply for the business school there (and only 62% of the UC Berkeley students applying get in).

Best of success.

In everywhere but HYP-Wharton.

Wharton: 25% chance
HYP: 10% (as it is for any non-hooked, non-stellar applicant)

thanks guys for the responses
