Chances at Cal & UCLA Philosophy

GPA: 3.7 from a CCC (1 B and 1 C)
EC: Stellar but from 2 years ago year
Credits: 70ish by Summer
Major: Philosophy

I am asking for my chances at UCLA and Cal. Normally I wouldn't be worried but I didn't take any classes from Spring of 2007 until now (15 months). Resuming school this Winter and Spring (will send in Winter grade)

I will be Tap certified.

Thanks!

I think you have a really good shot at both. Philosophy falls under Humanities at Cal and I think the acceptance rate is close to 50% the last time I checked.

how do you become TAP certified for CAL?

You join the new program.

if you're from socal theres only a few ccc's that have the program. its too late to join for Fall09 applicants though

Sorry, I meant TAP for UCLA

bump please >.<

depends on the ccc u attend. most just ask that you take several honor courses and get certification through a counselor... but its most likely too late to join TAP for fall 2009 applicants

last fall at berkeley, 35 CCC transfer students applied with GPAs ranging from 3.6 - 3.79 for either Lib Arts And Sci, Gen Studies And Humanities, Philosophy or Religious Studies.
24 got in, making your odds 68.6%
46 people applied with 3.8 - 4.0, 39 got in @ 84.8%

for UCLA
with GPAs ranging from 3.4 - 4.0
129 people applied under Philosophy or Religious Studies.
115 got in, making your odds 89.1%

3.2 - 3.39,
49 applied
38 got in
making the odds 77.6%

rest easy.
you're in.

pinkerfloyd where did you find the breakdown per gpa? i know ucla provides statistical information based on major but i've never seen it per gpa.

University of California: StatFinder

Thanks very helpful!
