Chances at Chapman! Please help.

So Chapman is my first choice college and I've been working very hard for it. I have a low GPA, but I'm hoping I can make up for it with other things. I just hope I can have a chance.

I have a 3.01 weighted GPA, but that's because I took very challenging courses at my school, all AP classes and high honours classes. I'm applying for film production and made a short film to submit with my application (Chapman Video Essay - YouTube). I got a 1740 on my SAT last May, but I recently retook it and will find out the new results in three days and do feel I did better.

Now here is where I hope I can save myself. I am a student government leader because I'm senior class representative, I am president of the first computer club at my school, I am vice president of a 3D design club, vice president of a pre-law club, secretary for our science honour society, and have yearbook staff credits. I also made my own personal website that I coded on my own to try and show a good portfolio of my skills (Sean Kirmani | Sean Kirmani) and I have made contacts at Chapman University that I've met. It is my first choice college and I'm putting a lot of effort toward it ever since my college counsellor said that he believes I have a good shot at it. I also scheduled an interview, and I'm going to drive from Las Vegas to Orange, California to have an on campus interview, where I hope to sell myself. I have Asperger's (which I wrote my essay on, and I feel I have a strong essay), I'm middle eastern, and I am not applying with financial aid because I luckily don't have to worry about that.

So please chance me. I really do think I have something I can offer to the uni, and I want to make that especially clear in the interview next week. Thank you!

-edit-
I also wanted to add that since it is my first choice, and I'm not applying with financial aid, I would immediately accept if that chance arose that I would be allowed to go. That's something I plan on bringing up in the interview.

In general, I don’t like “chance” threads because there are so many variables. Your scores/GPA are a bit low, but as you note, there are good reasons for the low GPA. I think it’s good that you are demonstrating strong interest in the school with an interview and meeting contacts, which should improve your odds. Best of luck to you.

I like your video essay and your star films!

I just checked this after a good while and thought I’d update! I retook the SAT and got an 1820. I feel a lot more confident in myself about this. And since the application is already in, there is no need to worry about it anymore because nothing is gonna change now. It’s my first choice, and I really want to get in, but now I’m not scared; not because I’m confident and conceited, but because I don’t want to be scared, I want to be positive! I even did an on campus interview which I personally felt went rather well.

And thank you to shakespearfan for the liking the film!

Congrats to you for getting your application in and improving your SAT score! All that, plus going through the campus interview shows that you have truly done all you can. You have certainly given it your best! Now it’s just a waiting game. Try not to get too nervous about it, because as you’ve said, “nothing is gonna change now,” and being optimistic is the best attitude. Keep us posted!
