I know it's quite a reach, but do I have a shot at Chicago with great essays? Also, I plan to do pretty well on my SAT's and ACT's

You have a decent shot with good essays.

Thanks a lot!

Any other opinions, I know it's a reach...

Are you doing EA? That helps I think...sweet job with your debate, it's like a cult in our school... I like how we have the same GPA...hope we both get in!!! good luck, and just curious, what other schools are you considering?

Yeah, I'm doing EA, yes, hopefully we do both get in!

I'm also applying to:

BC - EA
GWU - ED
BU - RD
American - RD
Wake Forest - RD

are you sure you want to do GWU ED?

I guess we will see you at GWU then because with those stats they will most likely accept you and ED is a binding application. If they accept you, you will be attending.

If you are set on chicago though, a nice thing is that you can hold off the other applications until after you get the EA decision. If you get in and are set on going, dont bother sending in the fee for the other schools. They cancel your app and you save some money.

Yeah, GWU is pretty much where I want to go, Chicago would be nice, I just want to see if it's possible.

Well, it's not possible of you go GWU ED because I cant really see you getting turned down from GWU

Well, that's good to hear, perhaps I won't apply there, because I don't think I'd really be able to go so far away even if I got in...hmmm

well still apply, but dont do ED unless you are DEAD SET on going there. no matter what happens (if you have any financial concerns and will need to look at financial aid, be very wary about ED)

Yea, definitely head ottothecow's warnings. "Pretty much" is nowhere near the level of certainty one ought to have about a school when applying to it under a binding ED agreement.

And not that this advice necessarily pertains to you, Duffman(Ohhhhh yeeeah!)28, but settling on applying to a non-dream school ED because it increases your chances of acceptance is a terrible idea. I was seriously entertaining the idea of doing so with Northwestern, and now that I've been accepted to and will be attending Chicago, I cringe to think where I might be had I done that.

And finally, have you thought about Georgetown at all?
