I also posted this in the CMU CC Top Schools section. I am sorry for the double post.

I want to major in Computer Science and Mathematics (sorry for the super long post).

What are my chances for CMU, MIT, Penn, and Princeton?

I'd say CMU is your most solid shot of those four, it's probably a high match for you. I'd call Penn a reach, maybe a low reach. Admissions at MIT and Princeton are just a crapshoot - you're a good applicant at both, but they're huge reaches for everyone and it's hard to predict who will get in.

CMU= match
MIT= huge reach
Penn= moderate reach
Princeton= huge reach

I'd add in a couple more solid schools.

Thank you for the responses.

I'm probably going to ED in CMU (I'd really like to go there).

Are there any things I can do to improve?

well if you're URM, you're in at any college you choose :)

I am an Indian male...not exactly under-represented...

Oh BTW: other colleges that I'm applying to include U of Chicago, U of Maryland, Cooper Union, NJIT, Rutgers.

Well in that case:
U. Chicago= moderate match
U. Maryland= IN
Cooper= I dont know what that is
NJIT= IN
Rutgers= IN

Bump

Any more comments?

Cooper is a reach by default.......probably a very high one for you

What exactly is Cooper? How am I completely unfamiliar with this school?

Jman21: Here is their website: Welcome to The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art

In essence, it's a science, engineering, and art school. The outstanding quality of the school is that:

"Tuition is listed at $31,500 per year. Every student receives a full tuition scholarship and is not responsible for tuition-related costs."

Cooper Union is a very small, very VERY competative school in Manhattan...(1000 students, 11% admittance rate), specializing in architecture, engineering, and fine arts/graphic design).

OH! LOL...thus I understand how competitive it is.

Just a question: what are some other comparable universities to CMU that are at about equal difficulty to get into given my stats and are good for Computer Science/Mathematics. One more condition: they should probably be near the east coast..

Thanks!

Your EC's are currently unimpressive, cause it looks like you did things but do you have any results (like awards/honors) besides your plaque?

Well, let's see:

I got some NMSQT thing (got a score of 219).

As I said, I was a US Physics Team semifinalist (top 158 in the nation)

Our team went to Science Olympiad state finals (got medals in Physics Lab both times - this is our school's first year doing SO)

Been to Odyssey of the Mind State Finals for four years (three in high school) - missed world finals by 10 pts...

Hm, have been on the High Honor Roll every semester since it was introduced last year.

Couple of medals at Violin competitions (played since 3rd grade but stopped this year due to time constraint)

Bump

Does anyone else have any more suggestions or comments?

id say 50/50 chance
