I am a senior trying to attend one of these schools. My top choices are colgate and bates.
I have a GPA between 88-93 mostly a A- and b+ student. My school does it weird but i think i have around a 3.7

I WILL HAVE 4 AP AND A LOT OF HONORS CLASSES

took the SAT's once and got a 2070 taking them again

EC's- 4 years varsity tennis, 10 years of music lessons, 11 summers of sailing, 5 summers of teaching sailing and surfing, a lot of community service/ youth group, played in multiple bands at school and in various churches.

I will have great rec's and essays.

I will probably apply early to colgate where my dad is an active alumni. What are my chances at these schools especially colgate and bates.

also have parents that are active alumni of colgate. Great school with great networking opportunities. I would say if you apply ED, you will have no problem. i also think RD Bates is a match for you. Good luck! I would just like to ask you one question…why do you like colgate so much?

When i visited i notice great environmental studies and nice kids with a beautiful campus. Good sports culture and fun kids. Bates was also great.

ok thanks.

will you answer mine? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1438077-chance-bc-nd-uva-umich-bu-wustl-please.html#post15254960

really, i thought both colby and bates were a reach

The problem with these “chance me” threads is that you’re asking the blind to lead the blind. I’d agree with you that Colby and Bates, as well as Colorado College are reaches, albeit reasonable ones. Colgate would be a reach if it were not for your legacy status. With it I’d put it at a high match.

Dickinson & St. Lawrence - matches

Gettysburg - likely/match.

I don’t know the others well enough to comment.

resocoff:

Here is a guide for anything you say or write about graduates:

alumnus: one male graduate
alumna: one female graduate

alumni: a group of graduates who are male or a group of males and females
alumnae: female graduates

I know that lots of people today like to say alum or alums. But to my mind it does not take much effort to use the time-tested terms.

Yes sue22, i agree with you. the thing is i think i would get into bates and colgate early decision. I know colgate is a little better and i am a legacy but i like bates a little more. I really want to get into a school early and i am not sure which school colgate or bates i have a better chance at. Which one is easier for me colgate or bates.

bates is easier

I’d say with legacy status at Colgate it’s about a wash. Both are good schools. If you were my child I’d tell you to go with your instincts, whichever school they take you to.

Anyone else

I think you are pretty solid on Colgate. You pretty much fall in the middle of most of their statistics and you have the legacy. I’d say the legacy helps you a bunch at Colgate because they seem to really care alumni.

Thanks for the help anyone else have any other experience with colgate

Anyone have any other opinions.
