hi! i was wondering if you all could chance me at colgate with early decision.
-gpa: 3.79 weighted
-upward grade trend
-test scores: SAT 2090 (CR 660, Math 670, Writing 760)- am getting tutored currently and retaking next weekend, ACT 30
-extra-curriculars: editor of the newspaper, crew coxswain, national honor society
-half Asian

I was wondering how much early decision, full pay, upward grade trend, and half Asian would help me at colgate. i know that if i didnt have all of that and if I was applying regular decision I would have pretty much no shot.
If anyone could chance me that would be GREAT! thank you so much :)

I don’t know how much ED helps at this particular school, but at some schools high ED acceptance rates are deceiving. ED pools are usually self-selecting, so the higher acceptance rate is because there are better students. Second, we need your Unweighted GPA in academic classes only, and your class rank, if you know it. Different schools use different systems, so 3.79W could mean anything. Third, half Asian won’t help at all, unless the other half is black or Hispanic. Being full pay will most likely help quite a bit in this economy, but I have no idea how much.

Sorry I don’t have chances; I don’t know how much full pay will help you, so I have no idea.

Full pay will definately assist a great deal with consideration at Colgate (and many other institutions in the current economy).

Michael2010- the 3.79 weighted is with just academic classes. my school doesn’t rank, but I would guess that I would be in the top 20-30% at a top very rigorous public school. I know that 1/2 Asian doesn’t help much, but at Colgate, Colby, Bates, etc. isn’t there so little diversity than being Asian might help a tiny bit or no?

Thanks to both of you, if anyone else has any input that would be great!
