I am a senior in high school and my GPA is 2.9 with my junior year being a 3.4 and senior year 3.5. I also am taking 2 IB courses. My SAT's were 1210 I am of African-American descent. My EC's are good but not great. Here are the schools I applied to:
Ohio State
Penn State
Va. Tech
U of Maryland
James Madison university
Michigan State
Christopher Newport

Thanks for any advice and please be honest, even if it is brutal

A 1210 is a good SAT score everywhere but on CC. You have URM status as a hook. You gpa is low, but you have a rising trend. The schools you have applied to are numbers driven and so your EC's won't hurt you for not being "great". You didn't say what state you lived in. The state colleges are typically required for 70% of accepted applicants to be in-state, and so they are harder for out-of-state applicants. I think it is safe to assume that you are in VA because of JMU and Christopher Newport.

These are the SAT 50% ranges:
OSU 1060-1290 (1175)
PSU 1090-1300 (1195)
Va Tech 1170-1280 (1225)
UMCP 1170-1370 (1270)
JMU 1080-1250 (1165)
MSU 1010-1250 (1130)
Christopher Newport 1080-1220 (1150)

You have been very reasonable in chosing colleges. The 2.9 hurts a bit. It would be better to be above 3.0. Christopher Newport is a safety. JMU and MSU are match schools. I would characterize Tech as a slight reach. It has a higher SAT range but it is in-state. I would also characterize OSU and PSU as being slight reaches because they are out-of-state. UMCP is a reach. I wouldn't be surprised if you were accepted to all of the schools except UMCP.

I have seen your other post about being waitlisted at George Mason University. I don't really know what to make of that. Being below a 3.0 will hurt you at numbers driven colleges. That could be something that I am underestimating, but on the other side, you have a rising trend and the URM status.

I would recommend that you write a letter to George Mason saying that you were waitlisted, are interested in attending, and that your gpa was 3.4 in junior year and 3.5 in senior year although you have only a 2.9 because of earlier years. Good luck.

If you got waitlisted at George mason I really don't see you getting into James Madison or any of the others with the possible exception of OSU. The 2.9 is automatically eliminating you at alot of these schools who if you don't have a "special talent" won't accept anyone below a 3.0.

That seems a little harsh. The majority of these schools basically lets the computer decide for the majority of the applicants. The computer doesn't like the gpa being below 3.00000. You have a rising trend on gpa, but I suspect that it was very low in freshman and sophomore year. When you applied in junior year, you didn't have senior grades on the transcript yet. Being waitlisted at GMU may indicate a general problem. If it does, then it could hurt you but I wouldn't expect all rejections. GMU did waitlist you, not deny you. Christopher Newport is a small college that will see the rising trend. If you want an extreme safety, there is NoVa.

Also to ask another question, In the future i want to be able to transfer to Cornell or UVA. The problem is my high school grades have hampered me so much i dont know if it is possible. What more can I do to make myself competetive for these schools, especially Cornell.

Firebird,
If you start your college career somewhere else, and complete a full year, your high school record would be of no consequence. Do well academically at the college you attend, get involved with some campus activities and be thoughtful in your transfer application essays.
Good Luck!
