I consider myself a writer, so I'm pretty sure my essays will be strong. And I've taken a few SAT I practice tests recently and hit around 2200+ so that should be about where I am.

If you could chance me for all the ivies
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Brown
Cornell
Duke
UPenn
Columbia (ED)
Dartmouth

and in addition
Georgetown
Stanford
U of Chicago
Northwestern

And also if you could recommend any matches or safties (colleges/universities with good writing programs in particular), that would be much appreciated.

oh I’m also retaking my Bio SAT II and will take the Spanish SAT II for the first time next year so I’m hoping at least two of my SAT IIs will be in the 750 + category.

If you can get your SATs up to 2200, then you will be in much better shape. Right now probably all ivys are reaches with cornell being a small reach or a high match. But I’m not sure if your columbia things helps your admission rates. Stanford is also a reach. Georgetown, Uchicago and Northwestern are probably all high matches. Chicago, though, really depends on your essays, so if you’re a good writer that will help.
Some good writing schools are Hamilton(a good low match), Grinnell, Pomona(although it is hard to get into) and Johns Hopkins.

wait, wrong link, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/733304-chance-schools.html

what’s your rank? to have a good chance at those upper ivy’s you probably need to get both your SAT I/SAT II’s up without a 4.0 GPA (everyone applying is brilliant). but i think you have a really good shot at cornell, northwestern, and chicago even if you don’t get those scores up.

My school refuses to rank because we’re very competitive and only have 50 students per grade. If I would have to guess, I’d say top five students–but if you’ll notice, that’s only the top 10%. Our top 5% would be two students–valedictorian and salutatorian, of which I am neither… they’re just so asian. How can I keep up? (Joke I’m not racist they’re my best friends) but I could be 6th or 7th, not sure, in which case I’d be in the top 20% which doesn’t sound good at all… even though I feel like I should be higher. Anyway, colleges will never know my rank so I guess it doesn’t matter?

Hey guys, I have a nice update!

I got into Columbia University ED!

My SAT was a 2300, although my SAT IIs did not improve (I retook the Lit SAT II and received a 640… I had to send that into Columbia because they require all scores and I thought I was done for sure, but things worked out!)

Anyway, I definitely appreciate your help. Best of luck in your college endeavors!
