I am looking into Penn, Columbia, Dartmouth, NYU, Berkeley, Northwestern, Wash U, U Chicago
DO I have a chance of getting into my dream school _-- JOhns Hopkins???

Thanks and your advice is very much appreciated!!!

I WILL CHANCE BACK!!!!!!

Penn - Low Reach
Columbia - Low Reach
Dartmouth - Low Reach
NYU - Low Match
Berkeley - Low Reach
Northwestern - High Match
Wash U - High Match (I think you mean Wash U at St. Louis? Seems to be the most likely considering the rest of your list)
JHU - Match I’d say you have an excellent shot here, especially if you apply ED.
UChicago - Impossible to tell, because letters of recommendation and essays play such a huge role, and GPA/SAT don’t matter as much.

I’m assuming that your schedule is very rigorous at your school with 8 APs, but I could be wrong. Amount of APs doesn’t matter as much as amount of APs compared to how many your school offers. Either way, find some safeties.

Also, trim down your list of ECs when you are writing your applications.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/744907-chance-me-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

come on people- i will chance back i promise

i know its long just skim it por favor

you have way too much EC stuff listed. im not saying its a bad thing, but u gotta find the ones in there that mean the most to you. which ones did u put the most effort? which one had an impact on you? think about these type of questions cuz when it comes down to the app. u wont be able to put all of them down lol. with that said…

Penn - reach
Columbia - reach
Dartmouth - reach
NYU - in
Berkeley - in if in state, reach if oos
Northwestern - high match
Wash U - (st. louis? low reach.)
JHU - high match, low reach
UChicago - depends on essays. kick ass essays=match…

might be a bit easier for others if you trim down the eccs.

Penn - Low Reach
Columbia - Low Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
NYU - Match
Berkeley - Low Reach
Northwestern - Match
Wash U - Match
JHU - Match
UChicago - high match

columbia basically no way with those sat scores

list only 5 to 10 good ECS. Improve SAT, SAT2 scores. Columbia, simply forget. good luck.

Maybe Hopkins, bring up the scores for the ivies.

first off, wow. haha that’s alot of EC stuff man. great stuff too

chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/745856-chance-bro-please-will-chance-back.html#post1062901062</a></p>

my question was for all the colleges listed. I understand my SAT scores are low- but did you think my ACT scores were that bad too? I understand criticism, but instead of leaving rather terse remarks, I would appreciate some replies with some actual thought put into them. For example, Michael2010, nirvash, quequeque, and guitarpleyar actually helped me out a little- thanks you guys

keep chancing!

Well, its not that your ACT scores are “low”, I think 32 is in the top 1%. However, for the colleges you’re looking at, your scores are on the low side. While these colleges have a holistic admissions process, almost everyone in the applicant pool will have top grades and ECs, so they often have to use test scores to make decisions, so you would have a better chance of being admitted with higher scores. As for the SAT Math subject test, you should have no problem taking Math II as long as you’ve taken trig/precalculus. You’ll most likely get a higher score than on Math I, because of the ridiculously huge curve (You can get 10-15 blank or wrong and still get an 800).

thank you for replying in a way that i can benefit from- my goal is to get my ACT score up to at least 34/35 and Math II to 750+ and I am actually studying for math

cmon you guys 266 views and only 11 replies!
Chance me por favor and I will chance back!!

Without a hook, a 32 really isn’t competitor at ivies other than some schools at Cornell. Focus on raising scores for your best shot.

You need a highdr ACT score for Columbia, Dartmouth, and Penn. The rest its okay for right now, but not those.

Penn - Reach
Columbia - Mid-Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
NYU - Low Reach
UCB - Low Reach
Northwestern - Match
Washington - Match
JH - Match
UofC - Match
