Income <60,000 so I might apply through Questbridge, although I'm unsure of how much impact Questbridge finalist has on regular admission.

Most importantly what are my chances at COMMUNITY COLLEGE?

Also please chance me at
EA MIT (Only because parents want me to)
ED Columbia SEAS
ED UPenn
Cornell
Brown
Duke
NYU
Binghamtom (safety)

And is there any point in applying to Harvard Yale Princeton Standord for me? (Personally I think I would get rejected at these schools so it would be a waste of app money)

you’re an idiot…you cant be chanced at a community college because they accept everyone
You cant apply ED to 3 schools…
If that was your true profile, you would know your chances after looking at some other CC threads
dont BS, this is a ■■■■■

he wanted people to click on the link to chance him

and he wants to know his chances IF he applies early decision to ONE of those schools. obviously he is here to get advice before deciding on which one to apply early to

NYU and Binghamton look like safeties

everything else hinges on your class rank, but you have truly amazing ECs

i dont know enough about IVY admissions to say anything about them

umm … 90% of applicants get rejected at these schools … the beginning of your statement is true for all applicants. It’s also true the 0% of kids who DO NOT apply get accepted … someone gets in; you might as well give yourself a chance.

Sorry, I think you’re going to get rejected from all of these schools.

“90% of applicants get rejected at these schools … the beginning of your statement is true for all applicants.”

I think it’s going to be difficult for you to get into that 10%. You have a good chance at Binghamton but if thing’s don’t work out you can always try a Community College then transfer.

Why would he get rejected? You seem to be everything these schools want (1st generation student, amazing SAT, GPA, and EC’s) I would be shocked if you didn’t get into 2 or 3 of those upper/middle Ivy schools, especially ED, and I bet you’ll get into one HYPS, but those are of course reaches for everyone. Good luck!

I doubt that this is a ■■■■■ thread, so I will chance. Everyone needs to lay off the OP.

EA MIT (Only because parents want me to) - good chances, I’d say 50%. But if you come off as dispassionate you will not get in.
ED Columbia SEAS- around 60% or so, I would say you should apply ED here instead of Penn
ED UPenn- Around 40%. Apply ED to Columbia
Cornell - Around 70%. You fit their profile to a T.
Brown - harder to get into due to popularity. Figure on 30-40%
Duke - 30%-40%
NYU- In (could be a safety even)
Binghamtom (safety)- 1000000%

I would say HYPS wouldn’t be wasted applications, but if you do choose Columbia ED then I would say don’t bother to apply to HYPS and wait for Columbia to come through for you.

EA MIT (Only because parents want me to): 45%
ED Columbia SEAS: 45%
ED UPenn: 50%
Cornell: 75%
Brown: 30%
Duke: 55%
NYU: 95%
Binghamtom (safety): 10000000000000%

First, you’re insulting the many community college students who read this board.

You have an enormous issue in not being top 10% in your class. At most schools you list less than 5% of those admitted do not rank in the top 10% and the vast majority of unhooked candidates are in the top handful in their class. When your school doesn’t rank they figure out a rank for you. They have plenty of data from high schools they have gotten lots of applicants from.

Your second enormous issue is being from NYC. That’s a huge pool with tons of highly qualified kids, many from top magnets and top privates, all applying to the same few colleges. Yet there are only so many NYers they want. This is a huge issue at Columbia which needs to accommodate lots of staff kids and legacies from the region. Not quite as big but substantial at Penn and Brown which gets a ton of NY applicants.

The next concern is that you attend a highly competitive ivy feeder. Your first line of competition will be kids from your own school because again, there’s only so many they will take. If those applying to the same schools have higher ranks, legacy or are URMs, that makes it really tough.

So what you have going for you is high scores and the low income tip factor. No EC’s leap off the page.

To me this says HYPS are highly unlikely, Columbia will be very tough, maybe Brown or Penn depending on who else applies from your school, Duke looks better. I would add more schools on the Duke level. Especially if you happen to be Asian.

Please don’t make a title like that in the future, it might be a joke for you, but it is a necessity for others. As for chances, I think you are at least going to get into one ivy. Good luck doing early decision.

This thread is very creepy. One of my friend’s brothers had literally just about the same exact stats as you. 3.9 UW, very competitive HS, 2390 on his SAT, 800s on Math2 and Chem, 790 on Bio. Hell, he even took the same exact Columbia honors science program that you took. Well, here were his results:

Accepted at: Princeton (attending), Columbia, Dartmouth, a few safeties
WL/Rejected by: Harvard, Yale, MIT, Brown

Your overall ECs are better than his so you might be looking at something very similar to his results, except maybe one more acceptance.

Then again, you could get unlucky and not make it into any of the very top schools. Actually, I’m only saying that as the typical conservative CC formality. The fact is, your EVERYTHING are exactly the same as a Princeton attendee.

So right, in terms of your actual chances, I’d say you have excellent chances at all except MIT (you haven’t won smartest kid in the world award) and Brown (you don’t have 100,000,000,000,000 community service hours). That’s what my friend’s brother said about his two rejections there, haha. And I highly encourage you to apply at HYPS; it’s possible that you’ll be accepted by one.

I think you have a great chance for all the schools you listed, although MIT and Brown you have lesser of a chance of getting into.
You can apply to the Ivies (HYPS) if you want to go there, but I agree that there’s a pretty slim chance for those schools even though your stats are great.
Also I agree with hmom5 that you need to raise your gpa so you can get into the top 10% of your class, do anything you have to to raise your gpa by 2nd semester.
good luck!
