I believe you have pretty good chances

thanks luluzg!!

I would say that you have a good chance as well! Just out of curiosity, what draws you to Conn?

thanks morningglory! well, small liberal arts school is the main draw; it offers strong programs in psych and international relations, which is huge; great study abroad, no frats, small classes, and a nice small town surrounding it with convenient accessibility to Boston and NYC… it’s very appealing

oh and I have an alumni interview set in the near future, so I hope that’ll help

it says on collegeboard that race is a ‘very important factor’ in concol admission. I’m asian female, intl student, do you think that will be a pro or con?
I’m doing full IB diploma and will certainly need financial aid - i won’t write my whole profile here as i just wanna ask about the race prob…

umm, I think that’s mainly b/c Conn exmphasizes diversity, so it could play somewhat of a factor… but I don’t think substantial

You’re In; thanks for chancing mine btw =]

thanks lionfellwithlamb!! I hope so!

I was accepted there in 1980 and had average SAT’s and a 3.20 GPA and not even close to all of the AP.s and extracurriclar activities you have.
I think colleges are more difficult to get in to these days. I went to the campus for an interview with my preppy outfit on and connected well with the interviewer.
Btw, back then the college was awful socially and very homogenized, mostly white rich kids from prep schools. And still the only school in it’s conference (NESCAC) with no football team!

My son had spent the last year on a degree course at a top five UK university but decided a smaller U.S. liberal arts college more suitable to his academic development. He is drawn to Conn by the reputation, size, setting, diversity and location (i.e. relatively close to NYC) and has just applied as a freshman.

He went to one of UK’s most selective boarding schools where he did very well in his public exams, and whilst there he played soccer, rugby and basketball, and sang in a cappella competitions. Also succeeded in gaining a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award (highly rated qualification in UK). He will thrive in a community like Conn.

He is a British national of Chinese heritage with home bases in Uk and Hong Kong. Has he a chance?

tchy61, you may want to create a separate thread for your son since this thread is for a freshman RD applicant. You can put more of his stats there, and it will be more visible to people who know about transfer admissions to Connecticut College.

In regards to Conn’s location, it’s not too close to New York. It’s about a two hour drive to Boston and New York city. This is good for a trip over a weekend or during a break, but you probably won’t see too much influence from New York or Boston. I don’t think the fact that it’s not near a metropolis detracts from its positive qualities, unless your son is really interested in being close to or in a city.

Anways, here is the Conn College page for transfer applicant information: [Connecticut College : Admission - Transfer Admission](http://www.conncoll.edu/admission/6174.htm)
