What are my chances at Cornell, UPENN, Barnard, Tufts, John Hopkins, Oberlin, NYU, Washington University in St. Louis, Northwestern, College of William and Mary, and Carnegie Mellon? What are similar colleges that would be a good fit? Thinking about applying ED to either Wash U. or Northwestern...

My school doesn’t rank people, but I would say that I’m definitely in the top 10% and guess that I’m in the top 5%. Also, my school has been nationally recognized a couple of times as a challenging public high school.

I don’t know if this would help but according to Naviance, the average accepted GPA and average accepted SAT at Washington University in St. Louis are 4.5 and 2250. All applicants in that range who were not accepted were waitlisted… I’m thinking about applying early decision to there, so maybe that will help…

I think you would be good for all of them with UPenn being a sttrevh only becuase a lot of Asains apply there and the compeition is really tough…have you considered Georgetown and UVA?

I’ve researched both of them but I feel like I have enough reaches as it is haha. My (pretty much) finalized list of reaches includes Cornell, Northwestern, and Washington University in St. Louis, although the latter might be a reach/target…

Most major schools look at unweighted gpa in their calculations. But they do look at APs, which may help out a lot! Also, johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon disregard freshman grades. By the way, your high school sounds much like mine, no ranking, highly academically competitive, it’s actually in the top ten in the country, but anyways I envy how you were able to take 5 point classes every year. We were only allowed to take 1 sophomore year and the rest junior and senior years.

You could consider Brown … their sciences are pretty good.
Out of the colleges you listed - your chances would be slightly higher at (if youre not applying for aid) Oberlin, Tufts, NYU,Barnard, William and Mary (prob. need blind).
You’d be a great applicant for the rest as well… but their applicant pools are really competitive…
Also, dont apply ED just for the heck of applying early. Only apply if youre sure that college is your first choice. There isnt much of an advantage applying early.

You have decent ECs but your Gpa is a bit low.
NYU: High to mid match.
Tufts: high match/low reach
Barnard: match/high match
WUSTL: mid reach
Oberlin: match (best shot except NYU)
William and Mary: low to mid reach
Carnegie Mellon: mid reach if freshman grades not included
Cornell: high reach if no hook
UPenn: high reach RD; mid to high reach ED
Johns Hopkins: mid reach
Northwestern ED: low to mid reach

I would try and think of some safety schools, as except for NYU and Barnard they are all reaches of a sort.

You’ll definitely need safeties. Those are all reaches, pretty high matches, and maybe one or two matches in there. No safeties, which you need.

Not to sound snarky, but I did post, “Also the colleges I listed are my reaches/maybes… I’m trying to narrow them down so my college list isn’t top heavy.”

you took a lot of ap’s and im sure colleges will like that.
NYU: match (will probably get in)
Tufts: match
Barnard: dont know
WUSTL: dont know
Oberlin: match
William and Mary: reach
Carnegie Mellon:reach
Cornell: mid reach
UPenn: high reach
Johns Hopkins: mid reach
Northwestern : mid reach
