I’m impressed I’d say. There’s more than enough extra-curricular activities to speak about your character. Not to say the least about your academic standing. You pretty much covered the whole field with sharp prowess. I think your chances are fairly high, if you don’t believe me there’s more than I can say that you’d find on MyCollegePal.com. There’s plently of useful tools available to help you make a complete assessment of your academic standing. If you’re a perfect candidate, why not give it a shot?

Here’s the reason why I evaluate myself lowly:

Last year no one from my school went to a prestigious school. EVERY SINGLE person in the top 20 of my class went to the local state public school. They certainly applied to top schools but none of them got in.

My GPA isn’t even comparable to theirs. This year, the top students from my class are probably not even applying to any of these schools. They tried much harder than me in high school, have more impressive ECs and certainly better GPAs… I never knew what a GPA was until sophomore year. I didn’t realize that I had to get involved in every EC to have a chance. I kind of just did whatever I wanted to do or had a strong interest in (notice chess :P) I’m just kind of confused as to how you can say I have a good chance. But I will check out that website.

thank you very much!

bumpity bump bump

All of those schools are top.

A thought I had – your weakest point is the SAT-W. Cornell Engineering’s web site says that they do not consider this portion of the test in admissions. So, perhaps, you might have a relative edge there.

I don’t know whether CMU or JHU consider the SAT-W

I’d definently predict that you have a decent chance of getting into Cornell (65%+) because of the solid, focused extracurriculars and the great ACT and SAT II scores.

Unfortunately, I don’t know very much about how stringent the other (equally prestigious) school’s standards are.
