<p>Patents and Research:</p>

<p>Invented a garbage receptacle that houses both recycling and trash and seperates the two by means of a foot pedal in the fourth grade. Recieved U.S. Patent in 2001 on the invention.</p>

<p>Recieved $300 minigrant from the Board of Education to develop a new type of electric Motor (2003.) Patent pending. (I wrote the patent application myself, if that counts for anything.)</p>

<p>Volunteer Work:</p>

<p>Researcher for the New School University in NY. Research on Project Pericles, an intercollegiate program for civic engagement and community awareness, and methods that the New School could use to implement the objectives of this program. Presented my findings to several New School administrators, including ex-U.S. senator Bob Kerry.</p>

<p>I think you certainly have a decent chance at your other colleges too (MIT included). Your SATs and ECs are very strong. Any reason for the low GPA? ED Cornell is very doable for you.</p>

<p>the GPA is shaky at Columbia and MIT, even with your scores. Cornell looks good though.</p>

<p>Are you a citizen/permanent resident? If you are not then you will be thrown into the international pool and your admission will be based on your being able to pay full freight as I do not beleive Cornell offers aid to international students</p>
