to give you an idea of the people cornell is looking at:
my sister is currently a student at the college of arts and sciences:
her stats:
SAT: 1470 (old SAT)
SATII: 800 (japanese) / 780 (math2c)
GPA: A-

AP Tests:
Art Hist: 4
Calc AP-AB: 5
Calc AP-BC: 5
Physics C-AP: 5

Ouch... what if I do ED II to tufts? or if my SATs go up significantly? sighhhh.

i think you should if you're having a rec by a professor at tufts. i think if you do ED and you like the school enough and you've obviously shown a lot of interest, they will definitely ACCEPT you!

your SATs aren't that bad.

it's just not quite as good for cornell i think. but hey, you have an excellent chance at cornell too.

dont feel bad mehh, one of my friends got into cornell last year with a math and verbal score of 1320...SAT's are not everything.

^hmm the thing is, it depends on where mehh wants to apply... which school i mean.

college of arts and science and engineering is the hardest.

all the rest, not so much.

i'm guessing yeti, that your friend got into cornell not through A&S or engineering

so college of agriculture and life science is easier than CAS?

most definitely.

i would say hotel is one of the easiest. problem is, they have a required interview.

CAS and Engineering are definitely the hardest.

how much easier is it to get into CALS than to CAS?

^well the college of arts and sciences have more majors like economics and art history while

college of agricultures and life sciences has different stuff like environmental sciences and vet work.

does that make sense?

it is quite significant the SAT difference... i think it's on the website.

is it possible to change the department after i get accepted or after my freshman year?

i think so.

i want to do that and apply to CALS and transfer to CAS.

i hope that helped.

Okay, so if my SATs go up only 30 points to a 2100 (or a little more to a 2130 or so), and I apply to the agr school, I'll be okay?
Btw, do I have too many reaches, not enough reaches...? or are they all basically matches except for BU and Brandeis, which are "safeties"?

i don't think that your SAT score increasing by 30 points is going to affect your chance of acceptance at Cornell.

hmm i wouldn't classify brandeis as a safety.

ballpark is perfect.

brandeis is an excellent school. big jewish population.

i think you could have another safety. good list though!
