Chances at Cornell, Stanford?

I am from India, and I REALLY want to get into Cornell or Stanford. I'm applying ED to Cornell because:
1) it's need blind for international applicants
2) it's got a huge TATA scholarship for Indians
3) it's got a high ED admission rate

SAT score: 2290. I took it without prep and wrote my essay in cursive, which cost me points, but don't have the time to take it again now.

Subject Tests:
Math level 2: 790 and 780 (took it twice)
Physics: 800
Chemistry: 790

My ECs, I feel, are not strong compared to those of American applicants. The emphasis on ECs is really not strong here in India:
- 8 years of piano (currently in Grade 7)
- EPGY summer courses at Stanford in 2012
- a couple of years of tennis, roller skating (no recognition in high school)
- Member of Student Council as Secretary of Literary Affairs
- Member of student govt throughout high school
- short internship at Hachette Publishing
- work experience camp in grade 10 and 12
- public speaking (recitation) in 9th, 11th (awarded merit card)
- I will be editing the school magazine for the year 2014-2015

I generally score top marks in class, and have received a few scholarships (best all rounder for middle school, highest aggregate in grade 10, highest in science in grade 10, best all rounder for junior year).

I am worried about my essays because I feel I'm starting very late.

PLEASE PLEASE chance me?

I think you have very strong chances that you will get in !
Common man you already have attended summer camp , you are already in the eyes of the universities

Good luck

Thanks a lot for the response, Mathsoul!

Your SAT is great for these schools, and by applying ED, I am very confident that you’ll be competitive at Cornell. I’m sure if you can write a good essay the admissions officers can look past the lack of EC’s (which isn’t really a lack, it is just not extraordinary, which is fine). Not sure about Stanford. No one is guaranteed a spot there but no one is guaranteed to be denied as well. I’d say that one is a reach simply because it is so competitive. You stand just as much of a chance as any other applicant.

Thanks cheezit97!
