you've got a chance, pretty solid scores, decent EC's and the whole studying abroad hook

Top 5-10% with Ds and Fs? Do you live in rural Bangladesh or something? Those Ds and Fs kill your chances at most universities. Unless there is some way to explain them, I would not even think of applying to Ivies.

As soon as a majority of the colleges you listed see C's, D's, and even F's, they are going to throw you application out. Sorry.

thats the way the system works here ... cant u see my SAT IIs ... i am 100 points above average .... and many ppl in my class are pretty intelligent ....... wat shud i do ?

the way the system works in india, the percentages dont correspond to grades. From my understanding in certain subjects it is impossible to get a 100. For instance a 55% is considered "First Devision" in Indian Engineering Schools

yeah you are right tarun ... sample this i had 66% in my final junior exam that was in april ... and in may i scored 790 in SAT 2 Chemistry( 94th percentile)....i cudnt hav learnt all that in 30 days .... the highest in chemestry in my class was 74% ... and mind u guys my class is tough ... every year 2-3( out of 60) get into indian institute of technology .... that has an admission rate of less than 1% !!!

Does n e one have any ideas on how i can explain this 2 the colleges .... also i wud like somepeople 2 rate my chances ignoring my school record ..... ? so keep posting ur opinions ppl.....

bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please note that I had found a link when I applied to high schools here in the US which said that an Indian Percentage of 60% and above equals an A in the American system so none of your grades are B's or C's in the American system :D This makes sense since the American high school educatoin system is a piece of cake compared to what I did when I was in CBSE. This is a generalization but it definatley holds true in my case and for some of my cousins who have also made the switch..

Most colleges who have a diverse applicant pool probably know about the difference so don't think its anything to worry about..For example, if I remember correctly, UPENN does mentoin somewhere in its International Student prospectives website that grades from different boards ( they mention CBSE ) will be evaluated differently..

The schools you are considering all have international students attending them, and all know that the grading systems arent the same, so it wouldnt be too much to worry about.
