Hi, I am currently a senior in high school and I was wondering if CSU’s accept if you have two D’s in high school? My GPA is 2.35 and my SAT score is 2110 (M + CR = 1440). I am also a CA resident.
What classes have D’s? Have you fulfilled with a-g course requirements for the CSU’s without these D’s?

You need to have the minimum a-g course requirements finished by end of Senior year with a passing grade of C or better. You can validate a D grade in Math and Foreign language if you pass a higher level course with a C or better. If your D’s are in other subjects, you would have to retake or you will not be eligible for a CSU.
I have a D in math analysis and spanish but now I am taking Ap Calc A/B and I have a C+.
What level of Spanish was the D in and did you take a higher level with a passing grade?
I had a D in Spanish 3 and i didn’t take Spanish after that.
So you have 2 years of Spanish 1 & 2 with passing grades, correct, but since did not repeat or take Spanish 4, your D can not be validated. You meet the minimum CSU FL requirement with 2 years. Both D’s will part of your CSU GPA calculation, so is your CSU GPA a 2.35 then? Your SAT is very competitive, so why the GPA vs SAT mismatch?
Have you calculated your Eligibility index for the CSU’s?
(CSU GPA x 800) + (SAT Math + CR).
You need a minimum 2900 EI to apply to any CSU. Just based on your GPA and SAT score, you should be looking at the non-impacted campuses such as Monterey Bay, Stanislaus, Bakersfield, San Bernardino, East Bay etc… since they may be more lenient on your D’s.
Another option is to attend a CCC for 2 years, work on getting high grades and then transfer into a choice CSU.
Yes, my GPA is 2.35.
I know how I was able to get a 2110 SAT score. I think part of the answer for getting a good SAT score is my parents. I wanted to give my parents, what they were asking for, which is good GPA and SAT score. I know, I wasn’t able to give them a good GPA but I wanted to at least give them their other wish and make them happy. For me, I wanted to see a smile of satisfaction in my parents face, which was missing since high school started and I was able to give them that through my SAT score. I think I have changed a lot since my SAT score came out because I want to see my parents smile all the time. And because of that, I have focused on my grades and right now I have a 3.2 GPA. But I only wish, I changed before.
Is CSU LA a non-impacted campus?
I have attached the CSU impacted campus/major matrix. CSULA overall is not an impacted campus but several majors are impacted. Non-impacted campuses overall have no majors impacted except for nursing. If you have interest in an impacted major at CSULA, your GPA may be a hinderance. I would apply to a wide variety of CSU’s so use the matrix to see which majors fit your needs.
