Chances at CSUs and University of Washington?

My intended major is nursing science and I plan on applying to as many schools as I can. Also, I want to apply to University of Washington though, as an oos student (I live in CA), would it be worth the money and time applying/going there if accepted? I understand their nursing program is 2+2 and I’m not sure if it would be worth the risk of possibly not even being accepted come time to apply to the actual nursing program.

Also, CSUs that I’m looking at currently for nursing are CSU Fullerton, CSULB, SDSU, CSUN, and CSULA.

My UC/CSU GPA is 3.79. (Don’t know if it matter but upward trend in grades?)

My UW GPA (Freshman-Junior) 3.48 with a W GPA of 4.25.

I’ve taken 4 AP courses in the span of soph. and junior year with a handful of honors courses along the way.

SAT: 1310 (M: 660 CR: 650)

ECs:
Volunteered in a hospital
Red Cross Volunteer
I’ve done a few leadership camps as both a camper and leader
Varsity Tennis for 3 years with a few awards from that
Key Club with a few volunteer events/hours, nothing special
Softball (recreational) for 4 years

I appreciate any advice/input anyone has on my situation! Also, if anyone knows of some privates in CA that offer nursing as a major I would also appreciate hearing private schools with good nursing programs as well. My GPA definitely isn’t the best but hoping to pull through/fit somewhere.

SDSU: High Match-Low Reach(Direct admit, in the ball park with your eligibility index but tough admit since they no longer offer 2+2 for in-coming Freshman)

CSUF: High Match (Direct admit) Match for 2+2
CSUN/CSULA: Match for 2+2.

Take a look at Azusa Pacific and University of San Francisco’s direct admit programs.

As a nursing major and California resident the majority of the schools you apply to should be OOS, in my opinion. This is because most California, direct-admit, nursing schools have downwards of %5 acceptance rates. Some good in-state privates would be the following: University of San Francisco (Direct Admit), Azusa Pacific University (direct admit), Mount Saint Mary’s University Los Angeles(2+2), Dominican University of California (direct admit?), and Point Loma of the Nazarene University (2+2).

I think that applying to the University of Washington is worth your time. California residents have come to the conclusion that applying OOS is a good idea because admission to California direct-entry programs is very difficult. Some Nevada public colleges even offer discounts for tuition to CA residents. There also are a few western states with reasonably priced out of state tuition. Best of luck with your college endeavors!
