I have a 90 academic average and a 1110 on the SAT. I am planning to retake the SAT in October and try to get a 1200. This is for regular Hunter, not honors.

I hope you’re only adding your Reading and Math scores.

If that’s your cumulative…then no.

Yes it’s math and reading lol

Cumulative what?

Cumulative, referring to your SAT score. Since that’s Math and Reading only, I’d say you have a solid shot.

May I ask why CUNY Hunter is your top choice?

I’m also going to apply to NYU. However, I like Hunter a lot and would like it to be a safety.

NYU and Hunter are two totally different schools.

Are you going to apply to NYU through their HEOP program?

For Hunter, I’d definitely shoot for 1200+. Their admissions committee is more concerned with the numbers (GPA/SATs) than anything else.

Also, for CUNY, I’d advise just applying to all of them, since you won’t have to pay extra per school. It’ll give you some more options if you’re inclined to stay in NYC.

I was just going to apply to NYU CAS. What’s HEOP?

I heard CUNY is all one application so I’m def going to apply to all. Also I heard it’s important to apply early because they usually just systematically accept anyone who reaches their requirements until they fill up.

HEOP is a program for low income students. Google it. They have slightly different requirements for applicants. If you fit those categories (to qualify for HEOP), you’d have a great shot at NYU.

And yes, it’s generally advisable to not wait until the last minute to send your application to CUNY…haha. A ton of people apply!

Thanks. BTW do you know if I can start the application before I retake the SAT–and then send it in after?
