Chances at Duke 2017 ED

<p>Hey, Guys:</p>

<p>I was wondering if anyone can help me out by offering advice on if they think I am or am not Duke material. </p>

<p>Course Load:
4.0 GPA (97 avg) Class Rank: NONE
ACT: Composite 31/Eng-28, Math-32, Reading-30, Science-32 (def gonna take again and try to bring up to 32 or 33)
SAT II: Chem-740 US-710
AP Course Load: Junior year= Chem, US, Eng Lang
Senior= Gov(American and Comparative), Bio, AB Calc, French, English,
Recommendations are from my ap chem/bio teacher (2yrs) and my pre-calc teacher
Writing an essay on how swimming has always influence my life and the roller-coaster ride that it has been </p>

<p>EC's:
National Honor Society
Foreign Language Honors Society (Vice President)
Music Honors Society
Summer Job as a lifeguard
School Newspaper club
Received an A grade for an All State music audition on the xylophone
4 years on the high school varsity swim team and soon to be captain senior year
Community Service(Teaching private swim lessons and tutoring in all subjects)</p>

<p>I have no idea if i have any chance so please help me with any ideas. Thank you to all!</p>

<p>Your test scores are low. Look at getting ACT up so that all sections are above 31. As far as SAT IIs, you should probably try to bring up your USH. </p>

<p>As for classes, You really need to be taking at least 5 (assuming you have between 6-8 periods in the day) classes senior year to be considered by most colleges. Also, if you got a rec from your precalc teacher, then why aren’t you going to Calc BC? It looks pretty lazy to get an A in precalc and then got to Calc AB. </p>

<p>As for ECs, they are ok. Passable if you can get recruited for swimming. If you can get recruited for swimming, then you’re probably in. Otherwise I would predict either an acceptance or a deferral. I don’t think you’ll be rejected ED.</p>
