<p>Just wondering my chances at duke ed...</p>

<p>Attending competitive high school in maryland
White male :-(
SAT: 800 math, 730 verbal, 680 writing
SATII: 790 math level 2, 750 us history
AP's: Calc AB (5), Comp Sci A(5), US History(4), World History(4), English Language(4), English Lit(this year), Macroecon(this year), Microecon(this year), Comp Sci AB(this year), Calc BC(this year), Env Sci(this year)
GPA: 3.62/4.0 unweighted :-( (weighted i dont know)
Class Rank: 40/~365 :-(
EC's: National Merit Scholarship Commended Student, AP Scholar with Distinction, Scholar Athlete, Extensive Volunteer Work (YMCA, coordinated trip to help katrina victims), National Honor Society, 3 Varsity Sports, math club founder, SGA</p>

<p>BTW: can anybody tell me how i can let my colleges know about my ec's cus on the common app there are only like 6 slots</p>

<p>oh and just to let you know im also in a bunch of other clubs and such and have great computer skills, neither of which i know how to tell a college about on my application</p>

<p>Your SAT scores are good, but your GPA and rank will hurt you. Last year Duke admitted 12.5% of the students in the top 5-10% of their class. You definitely have a shot, though. Write <em>excellent</em> essays, get good recommendations, and request an interview.</p>
