what are you worried about man? if i had ur stats, i would apply to some ivy league.

if you really wanna go to WUSTL, you're in. It's an excellent match for someone like you.

Hey, don't be misinformed, they won't ignore you, in fact, they'll want you. You can apply for several schollys there, you have to apply, they're not automatic.

And you'll be a shoo in for their scholars program.

Wash U is a great place, one of those less known universities that are top fifteen.
Good luck. Go Wash U.

Thanks to everyone for the insight/encouragement.

I haven't applied to any Ivies. Washu, JHU, and Duke are all viable options for me. In my mind, I want to lean towards Washu for various reasons, but I'm going to be practical and decide after all the decisions/financial aid packages have been recieved. That's the only reason I'm applying all regulr decision to all colleges.

Jrock, when you mention their "Scholars Program," are you talking about the University Scholars Program, which is the combo of undergrad-graduate education? Am I really qualified enough for that? From waht I've heard it's insanely competitive.

I am applying for the U Schols Prog and I don't think i am as accomplished as you are and I am very confident about it. Yea, it's the grad/undergrad thing.

Actually competition depends on the field. I am going for Arch, so it may be less and you get to showcase your creativity thru the portfolio. But then, you have great SAt IIs and your rec letters got to be really enthusiastic and your essay, too. You'll get in. Those Wash U guys are screaming for you!

But, I'm very sure you'll get in. What's your major?

Biomedical engineering. On my app, I said I was applying to both the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. I forgot exactly what I put down on my app, but I know for sure my top major was BME.

As for the Univc. Scholars Program, I'm applying for the one in Medicine. I think it'll probably be a heck of a lot tougher than any of the other programs, so I'm not so sure if it'll be nearly as easy (for me) as people say.

swmng109, build up your confidence. you'll get in for the Uschol program in Medicine. There's no point applying if you think you can't get in. Apply with optimism, and know that you'll be accepted.

Your transcript is the most important thing to the com. Don't forget you have to send an extra one to the U schols prog com. You're taken.

Your 1580 SAT will help qualify you for merit aid... however, a strong interest in JHU and a strong EC record and potential to contribute to campus life are required. Last year, JHU rejected over 20 applicants with 1600 SATs, and accepted many more with 1200s... It's not all about SATs but it looks great if you have the other credentials too. Are you a national merit finalist?

are you kidding? duke - MIGHT be a reach. Johns Hopkins will love ur test scores in the areas of science and math. and ur applying to Wash U? man, i'm applying there, too. seriously you have an awesome shot! thanks a lot for the competition! lol

I'm not sure if I'm a National Merit Finalist or not. All I know is that I'm a semifinalist. :-/

I've "shown interest" in JHU by actually visiting their campus.

Washu - arguably my top choice - supposedly they are infamous for rejecting people who they think don't show enough interest. I've never visited the campus or anything (way too far away!). Should I send a letter professing my genuine interest?

couldn't hurt, although this late in the game, might not be too effective
