I’m going to go ahead and say apply to any school you want in the country. It’s going to be possible for you to get in. The Ivies and Ivy-ish schools (Rice, Chicago, Duke, WUSTL, UNC out of state, UVA out of state, UCB out of state, etc) are very odd in their admissions, but I would bet you get into at least a couple of your top schools if not all of them.

Thanks! (: i certainly hope your predictions right… especially for Duke!

Your academics are okay, though re-taking for the writing score might not be a bad idea for those top schools. Your leadership is good and it seems like you have a passion in art. I’d say you’re in at USC and UNC. UCB and Duke, which seems to be a fav. of yours is within grasp. Harvard and MIT are prob. the only ones I would say would be mid reaches.

You’re competitive for any school in the country. Figure out your financial situation.

Thank you guys for the feedback! I really appreciate it(:

ummmmm… 1st you should consider applying to Uchicago b/c they don’t look at writing section, therefore you have a perfect score.

with no hooks the upper ivies are gonna be tough, but something like cornell is reasonable. write a stellar essay and you’ll have a chance at HYPSM

Duke is probably a low reach high match school for you and you have a really good chance

UNC doesn’t look care about writing so you’ll def. get in there

USC and Cal seem to be matches

chance back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1159533-yale-ea-chance.html

Harvard is a high reach but you have a chance. Same with MIT. Cal is probably a match. What is your ethnicity/gender?

Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: Female

Update::

Awards Ceremony was last week…

Harvard Book Award
Robert Frost Poetry Award
University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award
League of Women Voters Book Award

Hello nihala93, just so you know a little background information, I attended Yale University and now I work with Duke admissions, so I am definitely not talking out of my ass when i say this. Your obviously very intelligent and a well-rounded student but unfortunately with the amount of incredible indian applicants we recieve per year you would be on the fence for admissions. What makes you more qualified or stick out more from an indian in iowa who worked with nasa. I am sorry to break the news to you, but unfortunately many of the colleges you listed will probably be 50/50 on accepting you. Fortunately, you still have time to beef up your resume and add volunteer, etc. Hopefully you can make your application better and you would have a shot at some of these colleges.

UPDATE:

It’s kind of late, but just wanted to do an update of things right now.
MIT - early admit
Caltech - early admit
UNC - early admit
USC - admit

Are you instate for UNC?

ummm how do you know USC decision. they sent me letter saying that the date for their decision is April 1st…

@goonbug123 no im not instate for UNC, i really wish i was though!

@palebluedot112 i got my USC decision sometime in january, i think it might be because i was lucky enough to get a quarter tuition merit scholarship there! good luck to you, april 1st is just around the corner!
