Hi, I'm applying to Duke's Pratt School of Engineering Regular Decision and wanted to know what my chances of getting in are. My stats:
*SAT:2140 (not retaking)
*SAT II World: 700
*SAT II Math 1: 720
*SAT II Bio M: 710

ECs:
National Honor Society (2 years) spanish national honor society (2 years)
*students against destructive decisions (2 years)
*student academy of sciences (3 years)
*fluent in Farsi
*assistant teacher at Farsi school
*member of Iranian music group (5 years, was group leader for one year)
*play piano for 10 years (I plan to send a music supplement...should I?)
**completed a year-long prestegious biomedical research internship at the NIH
*summer student at NIH

I know my SAT scores may not be perfect but I think they are okay and still fall with in the mid 50% of SAT scores for Duke.
It is my top choice and will probably go there if I get in (and can afford it)
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT!

well yeah, I got a 770 on the math portion of the SAT, and from what I can see their admissions for engineering ( I'm pursuing BME) increased from about 21% for class of 2010 to about 28% for 2012.

And hopefully they don't base everything off of SAT scores cause that would be redic.

Fellow Iranian BME applicant here. Your stats look fine (what's your GPA?). You seem to be pretty involved in your heritage, are you focusing on that in your essays at all? And your biomedical research is nice, I wish I got involved in something like that. Question for ya, are you planning a career in bioengineering? I'm planning on doing BME in preparation for med school.

Like above, the NIH stuff looks very nice. Even though your SAT might not be at the upper echelon at Duke, the NIH work plus the SAT should boost your chances considerably.

I also noticed that Pratt had a required essay on the supplement. If you can write a good essay, your chances should be quite high.

I agree that your essays are going to play a big role. you are definately qualified but pratt is pretty tough. btw do you have mark on your app that you are applying to pratt? just curious
