Chances at Duke?

just kidding! I visited Emory this past week and loved it, but im not sure if I have the stats/ecs to get accepted :(

State: NJ
GPA: 3.784 UW, 4.430 W (I have taken a very rigorous courseload -- as indicated by my weighted GPA)
SAT: 730 CR, 700 M, 640 W (11/12 Essay) <-- Retaking
SAT II:
Math IIC: 720
Chemistry: 710
*I go to an extremely competitive school
*we do not rank because of overly-competitive atmosphere

AP Scores
Chemistry 5
US History 4

EC
Freshman Summer-- Took classes at local community college

Sophomore Summer -- UPenn PreCollege Program

Junior Summer -- Taking classes at state university/ Shadowed General Internist Hospital Specialist at Brigham and Womens Hospital (Harvard Med Teaching Affiliate)/Shadowed Internist at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (and am continuing over the school year).

***Also I am researching with a professor at Rutgers. We are trying to find a correlation between cortical asymmetry, depression and risk for hypertension/heart disease using a electroencephalogram and a pulse/blood pressure monitor. I think my name will be on the paper once it's finished in a year or so

What's your academic interest? Pre-med?

Based on your academic numbers, I think you have a very solid chance of being accepted. While not a slam dunk, you match up well.

Incidentally, Emory has an active Bhangra group and other Indian cultural organizations that might be able to take advantage of your tabla interests. If you Google videos under Emory Karma Bhangra, you can see some of the events they've participated in.

Everything looks good. Two questions:

Total Number of APs by graduation. Preferably 5 to 6.

ED or RD? Preferably ED

If both above are met, I think you have a good chance.

Good luck.

yeah, I'll have 6 AP's by graduation.

however, due to financial constraints it would be ill-advised for me to apply ED (plus, I'm not too comfortable with committing myself so early in the game)

1 out of 2 isn't bad lol :P

1 out of 2 ain't bad at all!

If you really love Emory, and can see yourself here I would apply RD but send an attachment/amendment to your application stating that you would LOVE to apply ED, but you have financial constraints that wouldn't/didn't allow you to do so.

I think you have a really nice chance of acceptance.

Good chances, but your GPA/SATs/hooks aren't high enough for Emory to be a safety for you.

I agree with Blaze991.

Good chance but not 100%/Safety.

I'd say you have an almost 100% at a school like GWU.

Yeah, I definitely didn't see Emory as a safety -- I mean, it's ranked 17th in the nation (you'd need pretty amazing stats for a school like emory to be a safety).

is the sat you give above the superscore (best of each section)

nope, I've only taken it once

hmmm "bump"

any more candid replies?

I hate myself for doing this again (I know how annoying it can get!) But any more chances :) ?

wow -- im doing it again

"bump"
