chances at ED

Hey, I'm looking to either apply ED to Cornell or Duke this fall. I'm leaning towards Cornell because of the amazing visit I had last week. I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea if I have a chance.

Academically
I'm a junior at the best academic school in the state (DE)
I have a 4.03 cumulative waited GPA (3.9 unweighted)
SAT Reading-730
SAT Math-750
SAT Writing-630 (ouch)
total-2110

AP Courses
AP Calculus AB-5
AP Calculus BC-5
AP Chemistry-5

I've played lacrosse and have run cross country since sophomore year. I've won two gavels in Model UN, I have around 30 hours of community service at various places throughout my high school career, and I am part of the 3rd JET
TEAMS engineering team in the state and 4th in the nation. Otherwise my extra-curricular activities aren't spectacular but have been time-consuming.

I plan on taking these courses next year:
AP Physics
University of Delaware's Calculus 3
Drexel University's Intro to the Art of Engineering
AP Economics
World Lit
Modern Physics
Programming in Java

All honors or AP

I'm planning on majoring in Mech Engineering

Thanks for your time. Please Comment.

I'll update again tomorrow when my SAT II scores for math IIC and chemistry come out.

yeah you've got a good chance at both unless i missed something. and yeah those SATII scores will definitely help in analyzing your chances

except that 630W, but if you're gonna be math science related that shouldn't affect you too much. colleges arent putting too much stock in the W scores in the first few years of them. once they can see how the score relates to the students' success in college then it will matter, but you're the first year of it.

Yeah, thats what I was hoping. That grammar section destroyed my score. Thanks for your thoughts sparticus.

aren't Duke and Cornell different types of schools? in terms of the campus? people?

True, but I'm interested in both mechanical and biomedical engineering. Cornell is superior in mechanical and Duke has made a name for itself in biomedical. However, I'm leaning more towards mechanical so Cornell would be my choice between the two.

cornell is supposed to be nasty at biomech though...

I can imagine. Oh yeah updated SAT II scores 700 in math IIc and 710 in chemistry. Not so hot. I guess I'll take them again.

they're still pretty good scores though...

Really? From all the other posts about SAT II's I thought they were terrible. It's good news than.

700/800...come on man, haha, do the math. College confidential is full of a bunch of overachieving, college-obsessed freaks. the sample you see on here is a sample of the more competitive part of the applicant pool. while i wouldn't call your scores stellar, they're nothing to scoff at either.
