Hi,
I'm really in love with elon's art program. My sat's are low, only a 1060. I know that won't help. But I have gotten into Dayton, Washington and Jefferson and Seaton Hill already which aren't that much easier to get into so I thought maybe I'd haev a chance. The thing is I'm a very big art student - I've taken 10 art courses in high school, I am in AP art. At the art show each year - professional artists pick the best pieces in each category and give them an award. All 4 of my pieces received an award - and not many awards are given out. I have excellent recomendations and I have about a 4.0 weighted GPA. The thing is elon won't even look at my art portfolio, they say they don't take it into consideration. I'm captain of my school's colorgaurd and devote a lot of time to that. I also work about 12 hours a week. Again, I've devoted much of my highschool career to art courses, which I believe is the reason for my low SAT scores. Do I still have a chance or are they just too low?

sorry - I forgot to mention - I applied early action to elon as well

I think you're in, BTW my hometown is like 30 min. from elon, small but pretty campus, good luck!

I'lll be honest, I'm posting this for my girlfriend - I go to Duke and she wants to go to Elon so much - and being at Duke I'm all for it - you really think she has a chance though? Elon told her specifically her SATs were low...

I didn't think Elon was that competitive?

it's not but it's average sat is a full 100 points higher than the SAT score she has...

any other thoughts??

please, anyone who knows anything about elon please respond - I need to put my mind at ease!

I live in Elon and it really isnt that competitive. Shes in. Tell her I hope she has fun in Btown next year.

I sure hope you're right...

I'll shut up I promise, just if I could get one more opinioin I could rest easy. Thanks!
Ben

anyone have any other thoughts - please?

Elon wasn't a competitive school but now is becoming more and more so and was recently listed as an "Up and Coming School". Those stats should get you in, but don't expect them to within the next couple years. More and more applicants are applying for more than just their musical theatre and art programs. They have a huge stydy abroad program and a gorgeous campus. Good luck and I hope I helped!

I appreciated all your positive input, but she was just deferred :-(. Do you think she has a chance at regular decision or is a deferral a pretty bad sign - any steps she should take to change the decision (like a recomendation from me! haha just kidding)

are her sats 100 points lower than the middle 50% or average?

middle 50% is 540-620 verbal and 550-660 math for a combined 1090 - 1280 combined...so about 30 lower than the middle 50%.

alright she's good then

you think she's good - isn't a defferal usually a pretty bad sign?

any other thoughts, please?
