<p>Oh God, the college applications have me scared ****less. I'm dying to know what my chances are at Emerson and NYU's Tisch film program. Oh and I'm a Junior.</p>

<p>STATS:
GPA: 3.60
ACT: 30
CLASS RANK: 92 out of 353</p>

<p>CLASSES:
I’ve taken all Honors and AP courses except for my sophomore year when I took regular Geometry.</p>

<p>ACTIVITIES:</p>

<p>9th
· Ninth grade play (Student director)
· Student government
· Students Seeking Equity and Diversity Club
· Track team (ugh this wasn’t very successful, maybe I should just leave it out)</p>

<p>10th
· Fall play (student director)
· School Newspaper (editor)
· Debate Team
· Students Seeking Equity and Diversity Club
· Speech
· Spring Musical (lighting)
· Tutoring</p>

<p>11th
· Fall play
· School Newspaper (editor—will be editor-in-chief next year)

<p>Summer
· I took Summer School the summer before my sophomore and Junior year so I would have room in my schedule for classes I’m really interested in.
· I’ve been in a volunteer program called Rising Stars since the 8th grade. The mentors (us) meet once a week to write skits for a variety show that we later help little kids put on.<br>
· Marching band –but I won’t be in it this summer because I had to drop band to take AP U.S. History</p>

· Employee at movie theater for two years</p>

· Various environmental causes that were part of the Environmental Club.</p>

<p>Creative Accomplishments:
· Wrote a screenplay
· Filmed a documentary on last year’s speech season.
· Have filmed over a dozen short films
· Filmed an informational video for the Debate Team
· Wrote a musical that may be performed by my high school next year.
· In the 8th grade I wrote a one-act play that was performed to the school by my fellow pupils.</p>

<p>I'm planning on entering some writing and student film contests this year. Does anybody have any suggestions?</p>

<p>Oh, and I have a 'C' on my transcript from Algebra my freshman year. How bad will this look? Will it hurt my chances?</p>

<p>Grades from freshman year either will not be considered or will have a small affect on you overall chances. Adcoms aren't going to look at that C and say "Oh my God! REJECT!"</p>

<p>Good, because I was a total slacker my freshman year. Unfortunately. :( sad face.</p>

<p>If that GPA is UW, then you have a good chance of getting into Emerson. I have no idea about NYU. You've done a lot to show initiative in getting a good segway into the film industry.</p>

<p>Do not worry about Algebra-I also got a C+-how you have improved in the math area/studies is the really important.
I think you have a good chance at these schools(but then I am a sophmore) because you truly show your commitment to film-I also want to be a film maker-ientering a contest can always help you</p>

<p>I actually am really desperate to enter some contests and get some recognition. So if ANYONE has ANY suggestions or knows of ANY contests then PLEASE let me know.</p>
