And I don't know if this matters but I was accepted at NYU, Umich, UGA, Georgia Tech, American, and University of Wisconsin(the only schools I applied to) out of high school.

Also, im not applying for need based financial aid(I would never get any anyway).

bump...........

Emory - match
Cornell - reach
Northwestern - low reach
JHU - low reach
UVA - reach (OOS for CAS is tough)
UGA - match
as for the other schools you mentioned, you'd probably be accepted again, but if their transfer rates are low, it'd still be harder

Thanks, I figure Cornell and JHU will be the toughest but its worth a shot.

bump...........

You can not apply to transfer into UGA until you have completed 30 semester hours. That means you usually can not apply until after freshman year; so the earliest you could attend is spring semester 2008. If you apply now for fall 2007 you will not get accepted. UGA does this to keep kids from attending another college and then trying to get in with lower high school stats. I know you were admitted as a freshman, but UGA still will look at you as a new transfer.

Well first of all in terms of AP credit I have already surpassed UGA's mark of 30 hours. I don't know if you are correct in your assertion.

http://www.admissions.uga.edu/admissions_transfer.html

"Sophomore Transfers (students who have 30-59 semester hours of transferable credit by the application deadline and will have completed at least one year of college by the term of intended enrollment)"

AP credit is transferrable credit and in that case I would be a second semester junior upon entry.

In the end I don't know if it really matters, I don't really want to go to UGA. Even if I switch majors to Econ, their program is not where i want to be.

bumping up

whoa...ok, you need to email UGA...most schools want 24-30 credits by the time you enroll in their school, not by the time you apply...30 credit would mean spring of your soph year at earliest, and thats not right

Shoebox is dead on right. When MOST schools say they require 30 hours mean that the applicant must have accumulated 30 hours IN UNIVERSITY by the time they enroll for the coming year/term at the new school.

Don't include AP calculations in this formulation. I think you'll find 30 hours in one year mighty doable.

From the UGA site:
Sophomore Transfers (students who have 30-59 semester hours of transferable credit by the application deadline and will have completed at least one year of college by the term of intended enrollment):
Must have a 3.20 or higher transfer GPA to be considered for admission, though there is no minimum GPA that guarantees admission.

Students with fewer than 30 transferable hours:
Ineligible. Must have at least one complete year of full-time college enrollment resulting in 30 or more transferable hours by the transfer application deadline to be considered for transfer admission to the University of Georgia.

Since you will have more than the required 30 hours, you can apply, but those people that don't have AP's and only take 15 hours or less a semester will not have enough hours after first semester.

yeah, no i looked and she/he is right...UGA accepts senior transfers, which is rare, so maybe thats why...i guess they want to make sure you do well your first year, not just first semester or 1.5 semesters

"Georgia Boys State(nominated)"

.......hahahah what??

My school nominated people to go. Its a ****ty EC, but its something i put on my original apps.

Ill have 30 hours of university hours by the time I enroll just not by the application deadline. However, i will have 30 hours of transferrable credit with the AP's. Doesnt matter though because I probably wont consider UGA.

Ryan! you may not remember me but you used to be my designated varsity in debate during my freshmen year. i'm in the midst of trying to decide where to go. i have applied to AU and have a substantial chance of getting in. As a matter of fact, if i don't hear from jhu or georgetown's international relations, I was seriously considering going to AU. It all changed when i read your post. As one of the respected former hooch student, could you tell me (pm is fine if you feel uncomfortable posting the info) why you want to transfer out? also, if you were a high school senior, of the colleges that you got accepted to, where would you reconsider going to (assuming you don't want to go to AU). lastly, is riaz also thinking of transfering? sorry for the long post.
