Chances at Emory ED1

Please, be merciful, lol. I am confident that I will be applying to Emory ED1.

STATS:
3.85 UW
4.17 W (out of 4.8 – about 4.37 on a 5 scale)
32 ACT
11 AP classes
Top 10% of class (no ranks, but they do provide percentiles)

  • I have a C and D from 7th grade in German, but it is not factored into my GPA and does not count as high school credit (don’t even know why it is on my transcript then). I was suffering from severe health issues and family problems. I, honestly, made a miraculous recover from where I was in middle school. My counselor said she would make sure she mentioned that in her letter. We are on the semester system for transcripts, btw.

Extracurriculars:
President, Founder of the Political Science Club
President, Founder of the FBLA
Treasurer of Student Council
Core Student Body Leader
Elected Peer Leader by administration for a bullying prevention group at my school
Member of my school district’s board (make reforms to better the culture of the school)
NHS (running for office, but I can’t for my junior year – only rising seniors can)
OMUN
Student Ambassador for OOS entering students + international exchange students
Intern for an attorney running for the HOR this year

Intended major: Political Science / Statistics

I don’t think people are ignoring you as much as maybe not wanting to chance a rising junior. Emory is tough enough for the “chancers” as it is. It makes sense to apply ED1 if you are interested in Emory as there seems to be a good bump with that. Hopefully, you will plan a visit for the next school year and good luck in your junior year.

The closest thing to a statistics major at Emory is QTM (Quantitative Theory and Methods).

It’s often combined with other departments to form double majors or a major/minor.

Emory was one of the early proponents of this program and it’s been copied by other universities:

You can read about it on Emory’s QTM Department website:

There’s also an Applied Mathematics and Statistics major:

What do you do with your political science club? I’m interested in starting one.
