Chances at Engineering at Good Schools?

Im applying next fall for either civil or aerospace engineering (2012).

Heres my stuff
From NJ
GPA- 3.70 unweighted- my school is really competitive, where all classes are honors level, but technically, all of them are regular level (because there's no differenciation), but I have taken a few college classes in school so far
SAT-2160 (hope to bring it up to about 2200)
M-780 CR-700 W-680
780 Math II
hoping for around a 780 on physics, too

Ive got good ec's, not much work exp (currently looking for a job), about 100 volunteer hours

Math classes
Alg I/II, Geometry, College Stats, Trig, Precalc- All Low-Mid A's
Sciences
Bio I/Marine Bio, Chem I & II, Aquatic Eco, College Biotechnology, College Physics I/II (now)
then basic classes (english, history, ect...)

My Senior classes would be college calc, college english, CAD, oceanography (its a marine science school), Environmental Science, gym, and i think spanish iv or something

If i keep my gpa, or go up a bit, do i have a good shot at michigan?
PS: Im thinking about Michigan, Illinois UC, Georgia Tech, Cal Poly, Bucknell, Lehigh, Texas-Austin, and Virginia Tech.

That’s tough for UMich – especially out of state – not impossible but tough. But maybe some of the others. Consider also Purdue and Rose Hulman. Add them to your list. Very respected names in the engineering field.

Have you discussed the cost of those OOS schools with your parents? UIUC and UTx may be as difficult as UMich.

yeah, i have been looking there (RHIT and Purdue), just didnt add them to that list. Im actually thinking about trying to do operation catapult there this summer. and money’s really not an issue, my parents and i have been planning is if i was going to a school without any aid, so we should be fine.

Add Harvey Mudd to your list if money is no issue

Purdue might be a good safety.
