Chances at Engineering (ED)

Hey, can someone chance me for the engineering school? I'm considering visiting WUSTL this summer, so will that help me? Finally, what are their SAT 2 requirements, and what would you say I should shoot for?

Stats:
demographics:
*I am an Asian Indian Male
*From a competitive public high school in Oregon: Beaverton High School, which was also rated the best AP school in Oregon, so yeah, its a smart school. (On top of that, our graduating class is rumored to be the best class of all time, and we were ranked 704 by newsweek putting us in the top 2.5% of all high schools or something like that!! This was before our class started taking APs, so that number will probably raise even more by next year because our class is that good)

wow 52 views and not 1 response?! Someone please give an opinion, I mean why do you open chances threads knowing what they're asking, and still not respond?

you've got to retake that ACT and do better on the science if you're going for engineering. The good thing is, you should be able to develop a method (using practice tests) that works for you and raise it to around a 28 which would also raise your overall score to a 31.

ED is the way to go, but even that won't help if your science is that low. Everything else looks great.

I think your chances would be improved by ED, but you are not guaranteed. Frankly, I think you chances are average to low (by CC comparison). I am saying this as an admitted WashU student. Here's how I think you can improve:

1)Don't worry about your grades. They're top notch. Explaining that one B won't really help/hurt your application.
2)Focus on retaking the ACT. Your score is pretty average. Try for a 32-33. Your current score of 30 is equivalent to about a 1950-2000 on the SAT which is WELL below WashU's standards.
3)Focus on bringing you Science sub score up. As an engineering applicant, you should be rocking your math and sciences. WashU does ACT super scoring, so if you focus on your science and writing you should be in much better shape.
4)For SAT IIs, as an engineering applicant, I would encourage you to take Math IIC and Physics. If you also want to sign up for Biology and do very well on each (750+) then these scores will more than make up for your low science score on the ACT.
5)Visiting campus is a good way of showing interest.

if i were you, i would apply to cornell ed and make it not washU for engineering

I agree with charlesjeon. WashU has a second rate engineering school.

Yes, but the candidate is not out of this world superior going by the numbers. WashU is a better fit, probably. Also, WashU as a whole is far different from Cornell.
